Monster Magnet is a life changing band for me. I just knew their hits (which are many) till I rediscovered them a few years ago as I was looking for music I could push my voice to (I was singing by now but clean only, I needed "medium-heavy" music (somewhere between clean & metal)) & this band along with the John Garcia bands after Kyuss were so good that it pushed me to develop my heavy voice over time.
I was in a band with my old producer Tez who has a label & vocalists that he then finds musicians for. I played bass for his project Artists Live (just a placeholder name! But it works so it stuck! I love that!!) for 2 years did couple gigs at Trillians which meant a lot to me as I'd been there as a patron for years wondering if I'd get to play on the stage one day, then I did :D
About a year ago I left the band to do my own thing and because life wasn't good I had to sort things out. Still not good but I'm working on it. I don't know music theory & had only ever written one song (which I was commended for), but with trial and error I basically used my bass as a guitar & made some parts, eventually some decent ones to put up, even as very short pieces. Magnetic Monster lives!
But all this time in the back of my mind I wanted to do something deeper, mysterious and ominous sometimes; I wanted to make a live heavy electronic band. I managed to make parts with cool chords & sounds once I got a keyboard but so far I've published one, I like it so much that I'm now struggling to make something that feels so correct like that does. I can tell by the views (I don't get many, but enough to see a difference), more likes, and even a comment saying "i love it". It's the atmosphere, & my project's called Other, there's a link to it on the Home & Music pages.
So this is me, a sum of compelling artists before me, who push me to develop my own style. I've been creating new & innovative things since I was young and have a varied portfolio by now. I grew up in a very high-quality time, the end of the analog days, that coupled with my life experiences made me get into the different things and how I express them in my portfolio.
