Food waste has been a long-standing issue in Malaysia. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) 'Food Waste Index Report 2024', published in March 2024, estimated that 40kg of food was wasted per person per year in Sabah.
Composting is nature's way of recycling. It is one of the most effective things we can do to reduce our waste, combat climate change and build healthy soil.
By turning our food scraps and garden waste into compost, we turn our waste streams into a beneficial, value-added soil amendment that can be used to protect the environment and build resilient communities.
In our office, we use compost to reduce food waste.
