Currently, I am the co-convenor (with Eka Zuni Lusi Astuti) of the Humanitarian Action Study Group of the Development Studies Association of Ireland (DSAI). Every semester, we hold online seminars to share knowledge.
I work as a Customer Service Administrator at the Academic Registry at UL.
I invigilate during the exam weeks at the UL.
I served as the PhD representative of the Politics&Public Administration Department at UL in the 2023/4 academic year.
Served as the PhD representative of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science's Ethics Committee at the University of Limerick (UL) for the 2023/4 academic year.
I have been a researcher at the "Kuresel Calismalar Platformu (Global Studies Platform)" since 2021.
I am involved in a group with Turkish researchers from different countries and have an interest in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2022, we (mainly with Dr. Oktay Kucukdegirmenci and Aslihan Genc) started to organize online meetings every week. Every researcher chose a topic that they were interested in and presented their research on it in the meeting, and then the floor was open for discussion. In 2023, we decided to challenge ourselves more and changed the style. For the first time, we announced those meetings on social media and opened them to the public. We held these presentations every week in 2023 and experienced a massive attendance.
I was a research assistant in the Asia-Pacific department of a think-tank based in Ankara for two months in 2021. I have prepared reports and speeches for the conferences we held. There was a newly founded website called TheAsiaToday, for Asia-related news. I was responsible for developing the website. I was uploading hot news to TheAsiaToday from the Anatolian Agency, of which we had a membership. In addition, I have made translations and proofreadings in both languages (Turkish & English) for the website’s other publications. During my time there, I held four interviews with scholars from Japan, Singapore, India, and Türkiye. Regarding the interviews, we have published them as 2 separate articles (Ankasam and TheAsiaToday). Plus, I have published four editorials about the Asia-related agenda for the website TheAsiaToday, their publication details are given in the research experience section.
As a student assistant, I was involved in a project of Dr. Erkam Sula, who was previously my lecturer, in 2021. The project aimed to create data, based on manual coding methods, for Türkiye’s threat perception in the Middle East between 2011 and 2020. As 3 postgraduate assistants (my friends were Merve Ozman Tamer and Galip Yuksel), we collected all speeches from the leaders and official institutions within those years. Based on a thematic categorization of threat perception, we read and coded them individually. I was responsible for the speeches of 2012, 2015, and 2018. I coded around 120 speeches in Excel in total.
