We have lost several members of our community this past year and on behalf of the Homeowners we would like to collectively express our deepest sympathies and condolences to all their families.
We are saddened by the loss of two women who served the association as officers and devoted much of their time to maintaining our great neighborhood. Marie Gallante and Linda Redmond faithfully represented the interests of the home owners for many years and sacrificed much of their time to make our great neighborhood what it is today. We thank them for their service and send our deepest condolences out to their families.
Current Dues are $153 plus any outstanding balances to be paid on or before June 1st unless amended at the Annual meeting.
There are still several owners that owe over $1600 in dues. Please pay now. We have pending bills to pay. Don't be the cause for your neighbors to take on an unfair share of the cost to live in our community.
As stated in Article VII(6) of the bylaws, any outstanding balance on annual assessments, interest, special assessments, cost of collection and reasonable attorney fees are to be assessed and constitute a lien against the property.
In a legally binding agreement with the Town of South Kingstown and per the bylaws of the Sweet Allen Farm Development all houses must have a buffer or common land behind them. Any structure must be 6 feet on your side of the property line with the common land. Common land is not to be altered from its natural state. If common land behind any of the homes or condos has been trimmed, cut down or changed at all from its natural state, the homeowner is legally bound to restore the common land back to its natural state and bring the area into compliance with the codes of the Town of South Kingstown (mandate received from the Town of South Kingstown). Homeowners in violation can be fined up to $500/day if remediation has not started after notification. The town has resources that will help you locate your property lines. You can start with the platt maps on file at town hall and reference them to the markers that start and end curves for the roads as marked on these platt maps. Please notify our President with any questions or concerns.
BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR AND CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG!!!!
If you witness a citizen failing to clean up after their animal, please record the details and submit them to the Town or to the officers. Please include time, date, location, description of the human and description of the animal. Together we can work to reduce the animal waste problem.
Before allowing your pets on others property, be sure that you have obtained permission. Please talk to your neighbors. Violations are a civil offense enforced by the Town.
Speed limits in our community are 25 MPH. Please obey this maximum speed and set an example for others. It was noted at the 2017 annual meeting that the speeds are increasing in our neighborhood as traffic is suspected to be using our community as a shortcut. Our children live here, please help the community protect our future.
Stop signs - please set a proper example and come to a complete stop at all stop signs in our community. We have many people walking their dogs or children. Let's work together to maintain the safety of all of us and our visitors.

Our warm winter and lack of freezing will enable a large tick population this year. Please check yourself and your pets after being outside. South County Health reported that it takes over 24 hours of a tick being attached for Lymes disease to infect a human. So please be vigilant about checking. Also note that ticks are small and are only often seen after they have fed. Try to keep the tick if you plan to go to the doctor.

Aquatic / Terrestrial Ecosystem Scientists have shown for years that an abundance of algal growth in inland bodies of water stem from a greater than normal supply of nutrients (see eutrophication). This puts the pond out of ecological balance. Like your lawn, phytoplankton (algae) also use nitrogen, phosphorous, carbon, CO2... as food with sunlight to live. There are natural predators to algae and a cycle that eventually returns the algae growth to nutrients (via bacteria and other microbes). But if the system is not balanced, one part will dominate. We are most likely seeing an excess of nutrients supplied to the pond from lawn fertilization (aka Weed and Feed). The best remedy is to naturally maintain your lawn and gardens. Grass clippings allowed to mulch will provide nutrients required as the microbes in the soil break down the plant matter. Alternate remedies are costly and not guaranteed but include killing everything in the pond with copper, installing a water fountain to create adverse physical conditions for growth or to increase the water exchange rate and flush the excess nutrients downstream into the ocean causing algal blooms on the beaches. If the excess nutrients are not removed, the algae will continue to dominate year after year and possibly eutrophy using up all the oxygen and living from sulfur (not oxygen) and generating a rotten egg smell (sulfur dioxide gas). (More information if you look up some of these concepts).
