Grants
Grant Process
The SAFE NAS program offers small grants for projects that advance SAFE NAS goals in the current conservation action plan.
Grant requests up to $2,000 will be considered.
Grants requests must be directly relevant to a current action item in the conservation action plan.
Grant requests must be accompanied by a letter of endorsement from the appropriate SAFE NAS initiative lead or steering committee member.
Grant requests will be awarded twice a year—March and August. Grant requests must be received one month in advance (deadlines are 1 February and 1 July unless otherwise noted).
Grant requests should be submitted to the chair of the SAFE NAS Grants Committee (Joe Smith, jsmith@thewilds.org).
Grants will be reviewed and approved by the SAFE NAS Grants Committee, and may consult with the SAFE NAS working group relevant to the submission.
Only grant requests submitted by SAFE NAS partner institutions and advisors will be considered.
The number of approved grants in each cycle will be dependent on the quality of submissions and the funding available in the account. Through funding disbursement for grants, the Grants Committee will not deplete the SAFE NAS account below a balance $2500.
Grant-related expenses should be documented with receipts and shared with the SAFE NAS Treasurer.
An update report detailing how the grant was used and the outcomes of the program should be submitted to SAFE NAS Grants Committee within one year of receiving the funds.
