Welcome! This e-portfolio presents my teaching philosophy, instructional practice, student engagement, service activities, honors, and scholarly contributions. It is intended to provide an overview of my approach to teaching and academic work.
I joined Aga Khan University in 2012 as an instructor and currently am working as a Full time Faculty in the capacity of Associate Professor in the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences. I have done MBBS and PhD, and I am a Fellow of International Union of Physiological Sciences, Fellow of International FAIMER institute (Philadelphia, USA), Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy (UK) and a certified master trainer from Flipped Global Initiative.
I have served on many educational committees to enhance teaching learning and assessments at the University. I was appointed as Chair Year II UGME, and currently as Chair of membership committee of the Haile T Debas Teachers Academy. I am a project advisor at International FAIMER institute and a deputy chair for professional development committee at the international DOHaD society.
My area of interest is in bringing innovation in teaching, learning and assessment methods such as flipped classrooms, Pecha Kucha as a teaching tool, open book exams, online assessments, team based learning, digital tools and AI in education.
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire” (William Butler Yates) is one of my favorite quotes.
The image on the left was given to me by my Peers during the Teaching Learning Enhancement Workshop to highlight some of my teaching and learning behaviors.
