Motivation to work on this project

English is the second official language of Bangladesh [1] and it is a compulsory subject for the students of class one to class twelve. But the level of proficiency in this language is very low [3]. In addition, Bangladeshi EFL learners face problems in speaking English with a proper accent [2]. Therefore, we worked on the development of an Android-based tool উচ্চারণ - Pronunciation to help Bangladeshi students in learning the pronunciation of English words through their native language - Bengali.

This is an initiative of Ekram Hossain, Uni. of Rochester, USA. I worked on this project under his supervision where my responsibility was to develop a prototype.
