I founded the Stop the Bleed club at my high school in my sophomore year. With over forty members, each club meeting focused on building a team of advocates who were dedicated to raising awareness about the danger of extreme blood loss and empowering their peers with tools to prevent it. Club members were also delegated with tasks to promote our message, such as posting about upcoming meetings and training sessions on Instagram in order to maximize our audience.
The Stop the Bleed training sessions were crucial in accomplishing my objective of imparting essential information to my peers. Wendy McEuen, nurse, Stop the Bleed team member, and my Girl Scout Gold Award Project Advisor, was kind enough to present the Stop the Bleed training course at each of our sessions. The course content covered many important topics, including why my peers need this information, how to maintain personal safety, and how to control excessive bleeding.
Overview videos like the ones attached above were useful to present during interest meetings for the Stop the Bleed club because they were able to convey the mission statement and some of the training offered by my club. I would play these videos at the first meeting of the year to provide potential club members a rundown of what our club is all about.
Our club's Instagram page was used to post upcoming meetings, training events, and other relevant information.
