At the start of each training session, I administered a pre-survey to gauge how much people already knew about the topic of bleeding and the necessary first aid response. Attendees were only given their score but were not shown the correct answers. After the Stop the Bleed course, everyone filled out a post-survey with the same essential questions to measure how much they had learned from the training. An important distinction between the two surveys is that the post-survey collected feedback regarding the training, ranging from their level of confidence to step in during an emergency to their suggestions to improve the quality of the event. I used these surveys to evaluate the impact of my project.
Please feel free to take the pre-survey to test your prior knowledge!
The drastic improvement in results from the assessment is a clear indication of success. The majority of trainees, over 85 percent, retained knowledge from the program, scoring at least an 8/10 on the post-survey. The information given to the attendees during the training session allowed them to select the correct first aid response to bleeding emergencies.
