I had first become acquainted with the national awareness campaign Stop the Bleed in my freshman year of high school, when my family decided to attend a first aid training session at the Riverside Community Hospital. Over the course of the training, I had learned shocking statistics about the risks of extreme blood loss, I was taught which materials are most effective in composing trauma kits, and I even had the opportunity to try hands only CPR. I was astonished at how little I truly knew about first aid, which led me to wonder how oblivious my peers would be. I realized I wanted to educate my community on this prevalent issue, and made it the topic of my Girl Scout Gold Award project. My name is Saachi Pavani, and this website offers insight as to how I approached my project, detailing the impact it made on my peers, and what I learned from the experience.
