Bio

I grew up in a family of musicians in Harrisonburg, Virginia, a city in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.

I graduated from Indiana University in 2023 with a Ph.D. in mathematics under the guidance of Kent Orr. I also hold an M.A. in mathematics from IU and a B.S. in mathematics and a B.M. in music composition from James Madison University. During graduate school, I continued my composition studies in the IU Jacobs School of Music and helped found the Indiana University Brass Band.

Until 2026, I held a postdoctoral position at the University of Virginia, where Slava Krushkal was my mentor. I recently started a postdoctoral position at The University of Texas at Austin, working with Maggie Miller.

Outside mathematics, I remain active as a composer and performer. You can find recordings of some of my compositions here. During the last three years, I performed with the Massanutten Brass Band. I also enjoy hiking, tabletop gaming, cooking, and spending time with my family.
