What is soldering?
Soldering is a process in which two or more items are joined together by melting and putting a filler metal into the joint, the filler metal having a lower melting point than the adjoining metal. Unlike welding, soldering does not involve melting the work pieces.
Practice
To start off, I took pieces of wire, cut and stripped the ends, and then soldered them together to make a ring. This was done to practice general soldering, and to practice soldering connections with different techniques. Some of these techniques include meshing the wires, twisting the wires, and putting them side by side. To do the actual connection, I tinned the soldering iron and then heated up the wires with it. I could then add more solder on top and let it soak into the wires and become a good connection.

Heat Shrink
Heat-shrink tubing is a shrinkable plastic tube used to insulate wires, providing abrasion resistance and environmental protection for stranded and solid wire conductors, connections, joints and terminals in electrical work.

Perfboard
A Perfboard is similar to a circuit board, it has holes in a piece of material with a ring of metal around the holes. This allows for it to be heated up and for solder to be added. You can solder electrical components to these boards.

Circuits
The last few things we did in this unit was constructing 2 circuits. For the first one, I made a blinking light and for the second I made a reaction timer test.
