Part of my creation of The Rx Project was that I wanted to create a space in which others would feel invited to also share their stories - in whatever way might create healing, open hearts, or fulfill needs. Your Rx is where I hope we can start to build community; where diverse perspectives can be represented through others' pictures and words. I have shared My Rx, my journey (which will continue to evolve over time), and I hope that it might inspire others to similarly find healing through creating their Rx.
How will others' Rx stories be shared?
Presently, others' stories (whether words, pictures, or a combination) can be emailed directly to me for posting. It is possible that someday in the future a forum-like site may be explored where others can directly share their work.
How does The Rx Project create a sense of community and safe space?
The Rx Project is intended to be a community-based initiative that combines both individual healing and group support. Without comment ability or any social media presence for The Rx Project, interactivity is extremely limited at present. Future growth for this space will address the need for shared dialogue as well as creating norms for participating in the project. As others' stories begin to be shared in this space, a sense of diversity within the voices reflected here should be highlighted.
Therapy is personal; what boundaries does The Rx Project have?
In creating My Rx, I wanted to both share personal aspects of my journey without pushing myself completely into vulnerable territory that might trigger anxiety. I have found in my experience that sharing is powerful, and I want to honour and share that with which I am comfortable and will hopefully speak to others as well.
In Your Rx, I would invite others to share anonymously if they feel uncomfortable - to disclose as much or as little as desired, through words and pictures, to whatever degree they like. As the project moves towards greater interactivity, I would like to explore ways in which to best preserve individuals' privacy and security while sharing (e.g., through self-selected usernames or private forums in which individuals need to submit an agreement for respectful conduct before they are permitted entry). For the project to be successful, it is critical that everyone feel safe, respected, and heard.
