FAQS
Am I elegible to play with RVA Tidewater Field Hockey Club?
If you are 16 or older, YES! Our participants span over serval generations and we offer many coed opportunities. Skill levels range vastly as well -- we cater to all levels of play -- some opportunities are intended for competitive players, while others are designed to united the local field hockey community regardless of age or playing experience. Some tournaments we enter will have current NCAA restrictions, but our club does not.
Where do you play?
Our group is spread out around the area, and so are our opportunities! You may view the calendar to see where we are currently playing, but River City Sportsplex (Midlothian), Tucker High School (Henrico) and St. Cats/ University of Richmond (Richmond City) are favored.
How much does it cost to be a part of RVA Tidewater FHC?
Initial membership fees of $30 are due as you start playing with us. Beyond that, each league, tournament, drop-in, pick-up, etc. is paid for individually and priced out on the website so you can find the style of play that fits your budget. Some tournament opportunities require numbered jerseys ($55 for kit) or USAFH membership ($30/year).
What gear do I need?
Jerseys or reversible pennies are provided with the initial fees, but you will still need a stick, shin guard, and mouth guard. An indoor stick, gloves, and turf-specific shoes are preferred by some. Bringing your own ball is also helpful for pick-up and league play (in case your captain is unable to attend with the provided bag of balls.)
