Becoming a member through volunteer opportunities
The Afsar Biomaterials Research Lab, led by Dr. MA Saghiri, Associate Professor of Restorative Dentistry, invites applications for rotational research positions from Rutgers University students and both domestic and international applicants. This 2-credit master’s research rotation offers exposure to basic or clinical scientific research through at least 60 hours of work in the lab, clinic, or center, culminating in a final report submission.
The Afsar Biomaterials Research Lab, led by Dr. MA Saghiri, Associate Professor of Restorative Dentistry, is now accepting applications for PhD candidates interested in rotational research positions. This program offers in-depth exposure to advanced scientific research, requiring PhD students to complete a minimum of 120 hours in the lab, clinic, or center. The rotation concludes with the submission of a final report.
The Afsar Biomaterials Research Lab, led by Dr. MA Saghiri, Associate Professor of Restorative Dentistry, offers international volunteer dentists and physicians a unique chance to immerse themselves in cutting-edge biomaterials research. This program provides a rare opportunity to collaborate with experts, contribute to innovative projects, and gain hands-on experience in an innovative and dynamic research environment at the world-renowned Rutgers University.
Program Highlights:
Flexible Research Commitment: Tailored to accommodate varying schedules, with a 6-month minimum period to contribute to impactful research and develop independent projects under the guidance of Dr. MA Saghiri.
Professional Development: Build a global network, enhance your research portfolio, and collaborate closely with innovative scientific minds.
Non-Paid Position: This is a one-sided, non-paid position that emphasizes collaborative research efforts. The volunteer dentist or physician will receive a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and a Work Agreement detailing the terms of their engagement.
LSAMP - Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation
Thank you to all of our current LSAMP members in our lab for your diverse skillset and for pushing the boundaries of minority participation! LSAMP is a program built by the National Science Foundation with a focus on expanding minority representation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). LSAMP not only offers a selective membership with special research opportunities, but also gives students funding, GRE prep, and extensive networking proven to be meaningful to students and faculty. Students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply to the Rutgers branch of LSAMP as our lab has accepted many talented students to be a part of our research.
