Check out some of our events that students have demonstrated interest in planning, facilitating, and introducing to our university campus!
In collaboration with University Ministry, the Regis University Sustainability Club will be hosting a student-facilitated service event. At this event, students will collect resources such as older clothing items and used textbooks in an effort to promote a culture of sustainability and utility. Instead of donating or selling these items, students will use this as an opportunity to receive resources that may be out of reach for financial reasons, among many. The repurposing of textbooks and clothes rids Regis students of consumer culture and fast fashion.
Facilitation of the past semester's (Fall 2021) Clear Creek Clean Up Event will occur again in the Spring 2022 semester! We will be collaborating with University Ministry and Adams County to promote this event as a community project, open to community members, faculty, staff, and students at Regis University and the surrounding Northside Denver communities.
In collaboration with Denver's very own Adam's County Parks Department as well as Regis' University Ministry Office, the Sustainability Club hosted a student-facilitated event. At this event, over 35 students, faculty/staff, and Northside Denver community members joined together to restore a section of the Clear Creek trail.
Alexis Miller, from the Factory Farming Awareness Coalition, came to give an in-person presentation (with a virtual option for students) over the intricacies and reality of factory farming in the United States. Touching on subjects related to animal rights, workers' rights, and exploitation, Alexis Miller provided perspective on an issue so pervasive and prevalent as factory farming.
