Role of the Professional School Counselor
The role of the School Counselor is to support all students academically, emotionally and socially. This is achieved by providing classroom guidance lessons and group and individual counseling. By working alongside the administrative team, the counselor supports all stakeholders while striving to make positive connections and build relationships.
Leadership and Advocacy
The school counselor advocates for all students, families, staff and the counseling program to ensure success and a positive learning environment. Through constant collaboration with administration, the school counselor sees each class for guidance lessons once a month, conducts small group counseling and individual sessions, and provides the staff with trauma-informed trainings. In order to give every student the most effective educational opportunity while promoting positive self-esteem, the school counselor organizes and hosts events throughout the year such as: Start with Hello Week, Red Ribbon Week, World Kindness Day, and Career Day.

Beginning of the Year Family Email:
Hi,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! My name is Landry Angel and I’m the school counselor here at Rustic Oak Elementary. I am excited for this school year and so very thankful you all are a part of our Buffalo family!
As the school counselor, I provide academic, social, and emotional support for all students. I teach monthly guidance lessons to all classes, meet with small counseling groups and provide individual counseling/check-ins. There is a link below to my website where more information on our school counseling program can be found.
If you or your family is ever in need of any resources (food, clothing, community resources, etc.), I’m here to help. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our goal is for all students to feel safe and grow in their learning each and every day.
It’s going to be an awesome year!! :)
