What government schemes are available for Indian rural development?
There are several government schemes available for Indian rural development. Some of the key schemes include:
Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA): This scheme guarantees 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every rural household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.
Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY-G): This scheme aims to provide affordable housing to rural households living below the poverty line.
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY): This scheme aims to provide all-weather road connectivity to unconnected rural habitations.

What the government is doing for the rural sector?
The government has started many programmes aimed at improving the standard of living in villages or rural areas. To build rural infrastructure, the government launched a time-bound programme called the Bharat Nirman

in 2005. Under the Bharat Nirman, action is proposed in the areas of Water Supply, Housing, Telecommunication and Information Technology, Roads, Electrification and Irrigation.
