Doe Mountain Recreation Area is located near Mountain City, Tennessee. There are numerous short-term rental options within Johnson County (VRBO, AirBNB, etc.). 

DMRA is approximately 20 minutes from Damascus, Virginia, 30 minutes from Boone, North Carolina, and 60 minutes from Johnson City and Bristol, Tennessee.

There are also several commercial campgrounds in the shadow of Doe Mountain. They include:
