Course Information

This is a mountain run with uneven footing and lots of elevation change. There are sections where you may be miles from help if something goes wrong. You should not attempt this event without adequate training.

50K

~32.8 miles

~6,200 feet elevation gain

10.5 hour cutoff

The 50K consists of 2 loops. Runners will run the 25K loop twice.

Runners will start with a 4-mile loop on smooth singletrack. Everyone will have plenty of space to find their spot in the pack. After this, runners will ascend 4.5 miles to the Kettlefoot Fire Tower, gaining approximately 1,600 feet over the distance. The surface is a combination of the singletrack Kettlefoot Trail and doubletrack multi-use trails. After the fire tower, runners will descend 1 mile of the Kettlefoot Trail before meeting up with a multi-use trail for the next 1.5 mile downhill. At the Trials Aid Station, the course continues for 5.5 miles on rolling doubletrack with a few punchy climbs thrown in. Upon reaching the Start/Finish, runners will complete the loop a second time.

The surface is a combination of the singletrack Kettlefoot Trail and doubletrack multi-use trails. After the fire tower, runners will descend 1 mile of the Kettlefoot Trail before meeting up with a multi-use trail for the next 2.5 miles downhill.

Aid Stations, Cutoffs, & Drop Bags

Please limit drop bags to a 2-gallon ziploc or a bag of similar size. There will be an area at the Start/Finish on race morning for drop bags. They will be transported to the Trials Aid Station shortly after the start of the race.  There will also be an area for drop bags at the Start/Finish for 50K runners to access before beginning the second loop.

The cutoffs are created in the interest of runner safety. We would love to have a longer overall time limit, but the days are shorter in October and we want everyone off the course before sunset. You will need to average approximately 19 minutes per mile over the 50K to make the cutoff. The cutoffs for the 25K and 13K are based on a 27-minute pace.
