This is a mountain run with uneven footing and lots of elevation change. There are sections where you may be miles from help if something goes wrong. You should not attempt this event without adequate training.
Navigation
We strongly encourage you to download the OnX Backcountry app onto your smartphone if you have one. This app uses your phone's GPS to show you exactly where you are on the DMRA property.
Course Marking
The course will be marked with survey tape approximately every 1/4 mile. Critical intersections will be marked with signage.
Safety
There are sections of the course that are open to dirtbikes and ATVs. Please stay alert and listen for any approaching vehicles. You can typically hear them long before you see them. If you encounter a vehicle, please yield the trail and let them by. Likewise, please look both ways before crossing a trail.
The official course will be posted by April 1, 2026. We do not anticipate any major course changes. However, we may be able to adjust the route to include sections that were still damaged from Hurricane Helene during last year’s race. The details provided below are from the 2025 course. We’ve kept this information available to assist with your planning and to give you a sense of what to expect on-course.
