Lion (Kindergarten)

Lion Scouts is a fun introduction to the Scouting program for kindergarten-age youth eager to get going! Lions do adventures with their adult partners and other Lions every month. This program introduces youth and their families to Scouting and the outdoors as it builds a foundation of character.

A new Lion Scout receives a Lion Handbook which guides the scout through adventures, all with guidance from the Lion’s adult partner. This part of the boy scout trail is intended to take one school year, preparing the scout to begin Tiger adventures after kindergarten is completed.

To earn the rank of Lion, scouts must complete eight Adventures:

Required Adventures:

1. Bobcat (Character/Leadership)

2. Mountain Lion (Outdoors)

3. Fun on the Run (Personal Fitness)

4. King of the Jungle (Citizenship)

5. Lion Roar (Personal Safety)

6. Lion's Pride (Family/Reverence)

Elective Adventures:

7. Elective Adventure

8. Elective Adventure

Uniform: The uniform is one of the methods of delivering the Scouting program.  In addition to creating a sense of belonging, the uniform gives a Scout the ability to display their personal achievements. A Lion will need a Lion Scout blue t-shirt, Cub Scout belt, Lion neckerchief, Lion neckerchief slide, and hat. As part of Rumson Pack 11, Scouts have the choice to purchase the rank-specific hat each year, or a “Rumson Pack 11” hat to wear for multiple years. Uniforms may be purchased locally at the Morganville Scout Shop or online at the Scout Shop. Uniform costs are not included in Pack dues, however all adventure loops and rank badges are.
