Arrow of Light (5th Grade)
Arrow of Light is for 5th grade children to prepare to join a Scouts BSA troop while learning outdoors skills and participating in many adventures. A well-run group of Arrow of Light scouts is a gradual change from being an ‘adult-run’ den to being a ‘scout-run’ patrol ready to fit right into an adventurous Scouts BSA troop. This migration requires the parents and den leaders to give the scouts more and more control, decision-making power, and responsibility as they progress in skills, abilities, and maturity. If a Cub Scout has completed the 4th grade (or is 10 years old) and has earned the Bobcat Badge, the youth may start working towards earning their Arrow of Light award. If this is the first year for your Scout, the first badge they will work on is the Bobcat Badge. This is usually done while also working on the Arrow of Light. This part of the boy scout trail is intended to take one school year, preparing the scout to transition to a Scouts BSA troop after earning their Arrow of Light award. The scout receives an Arrow of Light Scout handbook.
To earn the rank of Arrow of Light, scouts must complete eight Adventures:
Required Adventures:

Uniform: The uniform is one of the methods of delivering the Scouting program. In addition to creating a sense of belonging, the uniform gives a Scout the ability to display their personal achievements. A Webelo will need the official tan uniform shirt, the official green shorts (or pants or skirt), green web belt, official Webelo hat, Webelo neckerchief, and Webelo neckerchief slide. The Webelos Colors is an optional uniform piece that is worn on the right sleeve to display the Webelos Adventure Pins that have been earned. If the Webelos Colors are not used, Webelos Adventure Pins may be worn on the Webelos hat. Additionally, Webelos will need Pack Number Patches and the Council Patch. Pants and shorts are also available to purchase, if interested. Uniforms may be purchased locally at the Morganville Scout Shop or online at the Scout Shop. The Morganville Scout Shop offers patch sewing as well. Uniform costs are not included in Pack dues, however the Webelos Colors and all adventure pins and rank badges are.
