About Bob Zoutenbier

As of August 2021, I will be a Junior Lecturer for first and second year courses in our bachelor. As I was highly interested in societal challenges and numbers, I started my journey by studying Economics at our Radboud University. My professors taught me that economics is not a seperated field of research and you need to look at the bigger picture to understand economics. This insight led me to the field of psychology, which eventually made me choose for a Master in Behavioral Finance at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. In my projects and thesis, I focused on the satisfaction or happiness investors derive from their investments. Mainly social comparison and time-inconsistent preferences caught my interests. These theoretical ideas could be more than just theories, hence I joined the Private Wealth Management department of a Dutch bank as a Junior Investment Advisor. In this occupation, I first-hand experienced what drives investors to make investments in several risky asset classes and that even the most wealthy investors are biased in some way. This practical experience would I like to share with the economists of the future.
