Dr. Rudrashis Majumder

Postdoctoral Research Associate (IISc, Bangalore) | Ph. D. (IISc, Bangalore) | M. Engg. (Jadavpur University, Kolkata) | B. Tech (WBUT, Kolkata)

Short Biography

I was born on 17 November 1987 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. I received most of my education in Kolkata. I went to Jadavpur Vidyapith in Kolkata. After high school, I graduated from West Bengal University of Technology (Presently MAKAUT) with a B. Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2010. Then after a short tenure of job, I went to IIT Kharagpur to work as a Project Assistant in the Department of Electronics & Electrical Communication Engineering. In 2014, I got admitted to Jadavpur University in Kolkata to pursue a postgraduation in Control system Engineering from the Department of Electrical Engineering. I completed M.E. in 2016 with a University Gold Medal. In 2017, I joined IISc, Bangalore as a doctoral student in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. In Ph.D., I was trained and supervised by Prof. Debasish Ghose. I submitted my thesis in September 2022 and successfully defended it in December 2022.

Currently, I am working as a Postdoctoral Research Consultant in ARTPARK, IISc. In my postgraduate and doctoral research, I have gained working knowledge in control systems and optimization. In Ph.D., I worked majorly on designing game-theoretic models for emergency resource allocation. I have also worked on projects related to the application of UAVs in emergency flood planning and management. My M. E. thesis focused on developing robust estimators for tracking reentry ballistic targets. More precisely, my areas of expertise and research interests include game-based resource allocation and scheduling, intelligent transportation, task allocation in multi-robot environments, and coalitional games.

I am also a Taekwondo enthusiast and a professional harmonica player.

Projects

Emergency Flood Planning and Management using Unmanned Aerial Systems (2017 - 2020)

Managed successfully an EPSRC-GCRF funded multi-institutional project in IISc for emergency response using UAVs in a flood scenario. Developed resource allocation framework for disaster management authority.

Mohamed Bin Zayed International Robotics Challenge (MBZIRC 2020)

Involved as a member of IISc team in developing guidance algorithms multi-agent systems for different missions of MBZIRC - 2020. The tasks involved solving three signifcant challenges of grabbing an intruder flying object, construction of a brick wall, dousing the fre of a high rise building with teams of the autonomous ground and aerial robots.

Studies of GPR Wave Propagation through Soil (GWS) (2012 - 2014)

Managed an LRDE funded project in IIT Kharagpur for study and implementation of ground penetrating radars. Designed funded project in IIT Kharagpur for study and implementation of ground penetrating radars. Designed experimental setup for the project. Developed a general guideline for using a vector network analyzer.
