Tips before lecture material starts:

  • Dr. Cohn is a fantastic speaker, use that to your advantage. You can save yourself plenty of stress by listening and writing down everything he says. I mean it, even the stories he tells tie together with the material that will be on the test. After lecture touch up your notes, if you missed anything go to the recording and write it down.

  • Lab will move very quickly, I suggest you start looking at lab 1 now. Everything, and anything can be quizzed/tested. If this is your first time dealing with mass memorization I have a very unique tool in the 'about' section for you to download and use. I will further demonstrate in SI sessions how to utilize it properly.

  • Don't be overwhelmed by the AOI's just yet. Taking them slowly will build a network in your head of how muscle's originate, preform actions, and insert. The muscles of the arm might be a little daunting until your realize there is sense too it. Starting to memorize the AOI's now without the foundation will be nothing more than memorizing a scramble of words you don't understand. That's not efficient. If you want to get ahead on AOI's read the sections in the textbook or lab manual on the root word terminology and try to understand why things are named the way they are.

  • Prioritize this class. At least an hour a day if possible on lab. As soon as you take the quiz for LabX move on to labY the same day. Having 7 days to prepare is essential. There were times I couldn't prioritize lab and ended up having only 3-4 days to memorize that weeks material. DO NOT let yourself be in that situation.

  • Lab, often, parallels lecture. Sometimes you cover lecture material in lab before it is presented in lecture. There are reading sections in the manual that seem to never end. Get those down, highlight, underline, memorize, understand, be able to recite it to your friends/parents, anyone who will listen. By the time lecture comes around you'll be smirking behind the camera saying "get on with it I already know this" (hopefully while you are muted)

  • Lecture content in the future will have words, topics, etc that will go over your head. You might miss including them in your notes entirely. That is why I am here, come to the SI sessions and I will ensure you miss nothing. Never get too cocky by going at it alone.

GOOD LUCK THIS SEMESTER AND ENJOY ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
