After registering as a data collector (see link at bottom of page), these are the steps you'll need to follow:
1. Obtain permission from your Trust's clinical audit department to participate and collect data (we can help with this - we have a protocol we can share with you, and some suggested wording when you submit your permission request).
2. Identify patients who have had emergency laparotomy surgery over a sequential two week period of your choice - retrospective or prospective (this information will usually be recorded in the emergency theatre logbook).
3. Obtain details about their operation, their anaesthetic, and their postoperative care (including prescriptions).
4. Input this data into a secure online form (hosted by the University of Birmingham's REDCap service) by 16th November 2020.
