Workshop Announcement: Sustainable E-Waste Value Chain Conclave - 26-27 Sept. 2025 (Sponsored by ANRF and MeitY)
The Ecel's research interests focus on "Energy and Environment", in particular, the interest is in the design and development of sustainable, inexpensive, and durable materials for electrochemical energy conversion and storage devices to address global energy and environmental challenges. The group's present research emphasizes the following research areas:
Design and synthesis of new electrocatalysts (HER and OER electrocatalysts) for alkaline water electrolysis to produce green hydrogen
Investigation of various redox mediators for decoupling of water electrolysis
Green hydrogen production via seawater electrolysis - Chlorine evolution suppression
Investigation of electrolytes for redox flow batteries
An approach to integrate electrochemical devices
Design and development of a prototype device for the electrochemical production of ammonia
Electrochemical liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHCs)
Synthesis and characterization of various nanomaterials
In the past, Dr. Sankannavar had also worked on "Removal of Fluoride from Drinking Water" using (a) Solar still and (b) Hydroxyapatite
