M.Tech and Ph.D. admissions at IIT Goa
Prospective Ph.D. candidates:
The Chemical and Materials Engineering (CME) program at IIT Goa invites applications from talented and motivated individuals for its Ph.D. programmes in (a) Chemical Engineering and (b) Materials Engineering.
The ElectroChemical Energy Laboratory (Ecel) is actively looking for highly driven Ph.D. candidates passionate about electrochemical energy conversion, energy storage technologies, sustainable fuels, and related emerging areas.

Eligibility Criteria :
Applicants must meet IIT Goa’s Institute-level Ph.D. admission requirements and hold one of the following degrees aligned with the research domains of CME:
1. Engineering Background candidates
B.E./B.Tech., M.E./M.Tech., or equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or any branch of Engineering/Technology/Interdisciplinary fields, with an academic background consistent with the research areas of the Chemical and Materials Engineering program of IIT Goa.
2. Science Background candidates
4-year B.S. degree (or equivalent) aligned with CME research areas.
M.Sc. degree in a discipline consistent with Chemical and Materials Engineering research.
M.E./M.Tech. degree and B.E./B.Tech./B.S./M.Sc. (from CFTIs) degree qualifying candidates do not require GATE/NET, whereas others require it as an additional requirement.

Ph.D. research topics offered by Ecel:
Students joining the lab may work on one or more of the following frontier research areas:
Exploration of electrode materials and redox couples for next-generation flow batteries
Design and synthesis of new electrocatalysts for water electrolysis to produce green hydrogen
Investigation of redox mediators for decoupled water electrolysis and seawater electrolysis
An approach to integrate electrochemical processes
Development of a prototype device for electrochemical ammonia production
Synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials for electrochemical applications
