I selected this topic because I have always been interested in Napoleon and learning more about why his reign ended. After all, he was a powerful figure in politics, social life, and just about everything in France. I do have some background knowledge on the subject, but I would like to research more about the Battle of Waterloo and how that directly affected Napoleon.
My research question is focused because it draws attention to a specific event, the Battle of Waterloo, and its direct effect on the ending of Napoleon's reign. It is researchable because I can access plenty of online articles and other resources that would help explain the Battle of Waterloo and how it related to Napoleon's downfall. It is feasible because the data is already available, whether online or through physical copies. The history has already been recorded. All I need to do is pull out the pieces of information relevant to my research question. It is specific because the research question relates to one answer or explanation as to why the Battle of Waterloo caused Napoleon's empire to fall. It is complex, as it isn't easily answered with yes or no, because I have to first research the events of the Battle of Waterloo, then research how those events affected Napoleon's reign. It is relevant, since the guidelines were to choose a topic from 1600-1820 in Western Civilization, and the Battle of Waterloo occurred on June 18, 1815.
