Wondering what's currently going on with the troupe? Here's where we'll be posting any important updates about forms to fill out, events, build days, etc!!
2026 Heller Awards for Young Artist Nominations
(Added 3/10/26)
The Heller Awards for Young Artists (HAYAs) is basically the Tony Awards for greater Austin high school musical theatre. There are 18 categories of awards, and a certain number of high schools are nominated for each award based on their HAYA musical. There are non-specific categories (such as Best Orchestra or Best Production) and there are individualized categories (such as Best Lead Actor or Actress). There are also performance numbers, either done by Select Ensemble (a group of dancers from participating schools) or Best Production nominees, occurring in-between these awards. Every year, RRHS performs a musical for and attends the HAYAs, with this year's HAYA musical being Pippin. On March 8th, 2026, the nominations for each award were announced on a livestream, and Troupe 3543 gathered together to watch. Here are all of RRHS' 2026 HAYA nominations:

Tartuffe: 2026 UIL One Act Play
(Added 3/10/26)
2022 UIL OAP: A Lie of the Mind
2023 UIL OAP: Amadeus
2024 UIL OAP: Death of a Salesman
Public Performance:
Every year, we do a public performance of our UIL One Act Play before our Zone competition so that we can get some experience performing in an actual auditorium/performing arts center and have an audience watch the show. This helps us immensely with measurements, feeling out the show, and seeing what is and isn't working.
This year, our public performance was at Cedar Ridge PAC on March 6th at 7:30pm. It was free admission and the audience was full of supportive family members and alumni. Shout out to Josh Luther, one of our alternates, who filled in for the role of Damis for the performance! Thank you to everybody who came, it was a good show and gave us great insight for areas to improve and what to prepare for!!
Overview:
Every year, RRHS participates in UIL One Act Play, a theatre competition where students have to perform a play in under 40 minutes, with 7 minutes to set up and 7 minutes to strike, and several rules limiting the set, sound, lights, script, and acting. It is our final mainstage show, with rehearsals starting as soon as our musical closes so that we can prepare for our public performance and first competition in March. We do a free public performance so that the company members get a feel for performing in an actual auditorium and can simulate what the competition may feel like. There are 6 rounds of competition: Zone, District, Bi-District, Area, Region, and State. At each competition, we stay at the performance facility all day, have 1 hour in the morning to spike our set and get a feel for the space, then perform a couple of hours later, and at the end of the day we receive critiques from the judges that watched our show, awards for tech and acting, and find out who has advanced to the next round (only 3 schools will advance out of the 4-6 that compete).
2025 UIL OAP: Frankenstein
2026 UIL OAP: Tartuffe
Competition:
Here is a recap of the awards and placement we got for each round of competition. It will be updated as we go forward until we do not advance.

Theatre 1's Antigone
(Added 3/10/26)
On Friday, February 27th, Mr. Hobby's Theatre 1 and Advanced Theatre 1 both performed Antigone! His regular Theatre 1 performed during the class period (8th period), while his Advanced Theatre 1 performed at 7:30pm.
Antigone is a play that everybody who has done Theatre 1 (at any level) has either worked on it or performed it. It's the first full production that these students get to do, and Mr. Hobby gives them the freedom to feel out their lines and blocking with minimal help. It's a fantastic assignment when it comes to learning how to put on a full performance and playing around with what feels right for one's character. Each class had a unique take on the play, including the set, chorus, and scenes, so both productions felt like an entirely different show.
Theatre 1:
Advanced Theatre 1:
Congratulations to everybody who performed, no matter if you are in the advanced or regular class! Both shows were fantastic, and it's very exciting to see the beginnings of the future of RRHS theatre!!
Pippin Build Days
(Added 1/11/26)
Day 1:
We spent most of this day building some of the parts of the large staircase. This took a lot of measuring, cutting, and drilling. The hard work was worth it though; this was a very productive day and we ended up with two finished trapezoids and one of the four staircases!!
Day 3:
Day 3 was rough (not the first time I've heard that said [only real TTSF '25 attendees understand this reference]). There was quite a lot of repetition, attempting to fix small issues, reworking plans, and an overall struggle getting the staircase pieces together. There were quite a lot of issues with uneven heights and making sure the weight distribution was safe. Although this day didn't feel as productive and progressive as the first two days, we learned from our mistakes and hope to avoid these issues in the future!!
Day 2:
There was a major focus on inventory, planning, and further construction of the staircase. We sorted some bolts and glued together one of the "I"'s that will be a part of the light-up "PIPPIN" sign. Additionally we sanded rough edges on the trapezoids & stairs, prepared some more tops for the stairs, built another staircase, and put the three pieces into the position they'll be in for the show! We made a lot of progress that day and it gave us lots of hope!!
Day 4:
Word of the day: sanding. We had 20+ boards that we needed to sand down to be smooth enough to paint. This took A LOT of time, and was tedious at first since we only had one electric sander that ran out of usable sandpaper and we mostly relied on manual sanding, until Hobby revealed he bought two new electric sanders and more sandpaper! Meanwhile, we wiped down the ones that had been sanded
A few days before the first build day, we were given access to a dumpster for the first time in several years! This was a major help as we were able to dispose of decayed lumber & unusable materials, giving us a bunch more space to build and work. Although we still don't have proper A/C in the workshop and there's still a lot more stuff we need to get rid of, this was a major win for us and drastically improved the productivity and accessibility of the space!! This is why it's so important to advocate for our theatre program; Hobby has been pushing to get a dumpster for years and was heavily persistent on getting on last year but it never happened, however we were finally able to use one (even if only for a couple days). With a more usable space, we're able to do more in a shorter amount of time and increase the quality of what we produce.
Thank you to everyone who attended the build days; no matter if you're a current technician, a RRHS alumni, or an actor, your presence and support helped a bunch! It's fantastic getting to see this show come together, and I can't wait to finally get to watch this show in its complete state!!
Spamalot Troupe Night
(Added 1/11/26)
On December 18th, a few members of our troupe went and watched Georgetown Palace Education's last dress rehearsal of Spamalot! Though there weren't many of us, we still showed our support and cheered on our friends and fellow thespians. Shout-out to Sean Condon and Brooke Reeves, both RRHS students, for performing, and a major shout-out to Jamie Rogers, Avery Roger's father, for directing the show!!
Winter Production Showcase
(Added 1/11/26)

We had a decent turnout and the audience seemed to really enjoy the showcase. Shout-out to Evan for running lights and Syd for running sound, and major shout-out to Mr. Hobby for being the bell ringer during Sure Thing! Thank you to everyone who attended and fantastic work to everyone who performed!!

(Added 12/15/25)
On December 7th, we had our Thespian Holiday Party! We had great food & drinks, including Raising Cane's and various dishes that people brought, hot chocolate & apple cider, and even a s'mores station! Our White Elephant went well, karaoke was very fun, and the hot tub was quite enjoyable. The place was lively with laughter, singing, and socializing, and was overall a very successful party! Thank you to the Nelson family for hosting, and thank you to everyone who attended!!

Day Two:
People spent the day attending workshops, preparing for their IE (individual event), socializing with other troupes, and having fun. There were three IEs we participated in that day: Group Acting, Duet Musical, & Duet Acting!! In the evening, most of us went to watch the mainstage show that night, Chicago! At the end of the day, we went back to our hotel and rested up for the next day.
Day One:
We departed from Round Rock at 10am, driving for 4 hours to Corpus Christi. We took a pit stop at the Buc-ee's in New Braunfels, where we loaded up on some food and supplies. Finally, we made it to our Holiday Inn, and everyone got their badges, room keys, & meal vouchers, dropped off their luggage in their rooms, and chilled for a bit before we headed over to the convention center for the opening ceremony! We held our first troupe flag high and were extremely excited for this year's festival, starting out strong with a fun opening ceremony. Then, people either went back to the hotel or stayed at the convention center for a bit for workshops.
Day Three:
Day Three was extremely eventful! Solo Musical performed, and our tech team competed in the Tech Relay challenge!! We didn't end up winning any events in the Tech Challenge, but it was still a great chance for the techies to practice their skills and it brought them closer together. Meanwhile, people were at workshops and staying productive, and later on we split into groups for dinner. Some of us watched Pride & Prejudice, one of the mainstage shows, while others went back to the hotel after a long day. That night, national qualifiers & mainstage callbacks were announced...
National Qualifiers:
Julia Chapman (Solo Musical)
Riya Kodukula (Solo Musical)
Anna Nelson (Solo Musical)
Savannah Owuor (Solo Musical)
Belen Blair & Matilyn Cothern (Duet Musical)
Ella Copeland & Emma Motal (Duet Musical)
Macie Crownover & Peter Lemons (Duet Musical)
Alexander Baumgarten & Zachary Nelson (Duet Acting)
Maximus Hobby & Amari Williams (Duet Acting)
Joshua Luther & Sydiphys Morgan-Judd (Duet Acting)
Colin Durham, Adeline Hummel, & Cera Savannah (Group Acting)
Mainstage Callbacks:
Anna Nelson (Solo Musical)
Belen Blair & Matilyn Cothern (Duet Musical)
Congratulations to everyone who qualified and an even bigger shout-out to those who got called back for mainstage!! For those who don't know, Thespians who get a perfect score on their IE get a mainstage callback, where they can earn the opportunity to perform their scene or song at the closing ceremony; how cool is that?! To anyone who didn't qualify, you still got to go to this amazing festival (which not everyone gets invited to) and got this fantastic opportunity to show off your skills, expand your theatre knowledge, and have fun, so I hope you still had a good time regardless. Then, later that night, fantastic news came out!!
Anna Nelson was going to perform her Solo Musical IE at the closing ceremony!! To our knowledge, she is the first Round Rock High School student to perform on mainstage TWICE (she first performed on mainstage in her sophomore year in a Group Musical IE). Major congratulations to her, it was absolutely well deserved and her performance was phenomenal as always!!
Day Four:
On our final day, we got all packed up in the morning and went to the convention center for a bit. We soaked in our final hours at the festival as best as we could, and eventually it was time for the closing ceremony. It was thrilling to watch all the IEs, especially Anna's absolutely breathtaking and showstopping performance, and it was a great way to end our time in Corpus. We headed back to the hotel to grab our luggage, got loaded in the bus, and departed. We hit Buc-ee's once more for some dinner & snacks, and our bus was filled with both laughter and yawning the whole ride. Finally, around 8pm, we got back to Round Rock. Everyone was quite tired, so we all immediately went home and got some good rest.
What an eventful & fun festival! I hope everyone that went learned something new and had a good time. Congratulations to everyone who competed, those who qualified, Belen & Matilyn for getting a mainstage callback, and Anna Nelson, who is the first RRHS x2 mainstage performer! Welcome home & happy holidays!!
Trick Or Treat So Kids Can Eat
(Added 11/30/25)
On October 31st, our troupe helped out our community by participating in Trick Or Treat So Kids Can Eat (TOTSKCE)! TOTSKCE is a food drive event RRHS Theatre does that takes place every year on Halloween. Members from our troupe go around neighborhoods during trick-or-treating and ask people for canned goods & non-perishables to donate to the Round Rock Area Serving Center (for more information on what they do, how they help our community, and how you can contribute to their cause, click here). Our members can either go in groups arranged for them or can collect cans on their own/with their own group while trick-or-treating, either way supports our community!
In total, we collected 444 non-perishables and were able to donate 391! Thank you to everyone who contributed, hope you all had a happy Halloween!!
Halloween Party
(Added 10/27/25)
On October 19th, we had our Thespian Halloween Party!! People were encouraged to wear a costume and bring a spooky treat, and both turned out great. Everyone looked super cool in their costume and all the treats looked (and tasted) fantastic. Coraline was playing in the background for anyone interested, but most people socialized, ate some of the spooky yet yummy food, and showed off their awesome costumes!
Every year at the Halloween party, we have a contest. This year, our two categories were costume and spooky treat. The subcategories for costume were "Best Duo", "Most Creative", and "Best Overall", and the subcategories for spooky treats was "Most Creative" and "Best Overall".
The winners of each category:
Most Creative Treat: Evan Welch - Eye Ball Treat
Best Overall Treat: Nora Starr - Troupe 3543 Cookie Cake
Best Duo: Zach Nelson & Jade Castillo - Victor & Emily from Corpse Bride
Most Creative Costume: Noah Cantu - The Pumpkin Rabbit from The Walten Files Universe
Best Overall Costume: Adrian Lanaux - The Joker from DC
Congratulations to all winners!!
Special thank you to the Chapman family for hosting the party, and thank you to everyone who brought food and showed off their Halloween spirit! Don't forget that TOTSKCE is coming up on October 31st (more information about that in the Google Classroom). Happy Spooky month & have a great Halloween!!
Homecoming Parade
(Added 10/27/25)
On October 15th, Round Rock High School had its Homecoming Parade!! Troupe 3543 decorated the float on October 13th and added some finishing touches in the following days until the parade. Throughout the parade, we advertised our fall show & musical via posters/signs, flyers, and by telling folks on the sidelines about the shows and when they can see them. We had a few people walking/running alongside the float picking up trash and giving out flyers, and during the entire parade we played songs from Pippin, Something Rotten!, and other musicals. Overall we had a great turn out, effective advertising, and a fun time!!
Thank you to the Crownover family for providing the float/trailer, and thank you to everyone who was a part of the parade! Great work and happy Homecoming!!
IAWL Build Days
(Added 10/06/25 | Updated 10/15/25)
Day 1:
We spend most of this day getting the primary platforms ready and put up. We had to carry 4 platforms from the workshop to the Black Box Theater, adjusting on the way due to the school gates, then we took off all the legs from the platforms so that we could use the base, cut a slot in two of the platforms so they could fit up against the wall, and put on new & shorter legs. We also split up during the day, half of us staying and helping Hobby with the platforms and the other half looking at & pulling costumes from our costume storage. Overall, it was a very productive day and we got a lot of the base stuff done!!
Day 3:
This was a very long and productive workday (10am-6pm)! Prior to this day, we got the side platforms and back bridge platform built and put in place. On the actual build day, we first split up into groups, with some of us cleaning and painting 4 platforms to use for seating, as well as parts of the main bridge platform (specifically the legs that will be visible to the audience & the underside), while others assisted Hobby in the workshop. At some point Anna and Syd went out and bought some more supplies since we were running low on tools for both painting & building, and also got a Christmas tree for the show! Then we regrouped and worked on building stairs, with some people putting them together and others sanding them down to make them relatively smooth. During this, Jade and Nico helped clean up the workshop with a vacuum and broom, and made it look a lot better (thanks guys)! We then ventured back to the Black Box and put the stairs in place (not screwing them in, but just clamping them so that we can see where they should be). 8 hours of work is a lot, but it was well needed and has put us in great shape!!
Day 2:
Our focus this day was on the corner platforms and the bridge. We started out in the shop, cutting up wood to make the legs for the bridge and putting together the corner platforms. We also started some work on the counter, taking the lid off of the counter on wheels we had in Ford's Theater. Then we put everything in Hobby's truck and headed back over to the Black Box Theater, where we attached the legs to the platforms, got the 7 ft tall bridge platform on its feet, and put all the platforms in place. We had to do some adjusting for the corner pieces, but overall things are looking like they're in good shape. Once again, another very productive day!!
Something important to keep in mind with all of this is our facilities: our workshop, which has no working air conditioning, is cluttered with wood & scraps because we don't have full & proper access to a dumpster, and is lacking tools because over the years they have broken or gone missing and the school/district hasn't bought us more, is across campus from the Black Box Theater. There are a lot of issues that pop up when we're trying to build sets and work on our shows due to our facilities either being far apart, neglected and in disarray, or just not existing. Meanwhile, other schools have their shop attached to their performing arts center (which we don't even have at RRHS) and have working lights, tools, and have the support they need to put on the shows they do. The RRHS Theatre program deserves the recognition and support that they are not receiving from the district, so if you can, attend board meetings, advocate for our program, and push for better facilities & more support. I recommend contacting Mr. Hobby for more in-depth details on what our department needs, why we aren't getting it, and how to get it because he has had to deal with this for over 20 years (his email is on the Directors page).
A TON of progress has been made with the set, costumes, and tech overall! This production is slowly but surely coming together, and it's really exciting to see this show come to life. Shoutout to Mr. Hobby, who worked the hardest on both days and has led this whole process; we really appreciate everything he has done for our department and all the work he has put in tech-wise. Thank you to everyone who came and helped out, we couldn't have done it without all of you! Remember to buy your tickets for IAWL (which are linked on the Shows page) and come see all the work we've done in action!!
Callboard Pictures
(Added 10/06/25)
Do YOU have photos of you & your friends engaging in Thespian activities? Do YOU want them to be posted in the Ford's Theater window displays?? Then send them to THIS FORM!!
They can be old or new photos, they can be professional pictures of a performance or fun candid photos of you and your friends at Thespian parties/events; as long as they are related to RRHS Theatre, they will be put up on display! Help us show off our community and our coolness by submitting your Troupe 3543 photos!!
Permission Forms
(Added 10/06/25)
This year, Texas passed new legislation that requires clubs & extracurricular organizations in the school to receive written parental consent from student participants, otherwise they are not allowed to participate in that club/organization's activities nor go to their meetings.
If you are a student who has not turned in a permission form for Thespians, you need to do so either by turning it into a box in the Black Box classroom or by directly handing it to the Thespian secretary, Sydiphys Morgan-Judd (you can do this at the next Thespian meeting or if you cross paths with him). If you need a form, either ask the Thespian secretary for one or print one out. Here is the form.
No matter if you are inducted, have participated in Thespians before, or are new to the club, you absolutely have to fill out and turn in this form, otherwise your participation in the program will be heavily restricted.
The box in the Black Box Classroom you should put your permission form into
First Troupe Night
(Added 09/15/25)
On September 11th, our troupe watched Penfold Theatre perform The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee! We had about 20 people attend, and tickets for students for this performance were $5. Talk about an amazing deal!!
It was their last dress rehearsal before opening night the next day, and the show was absolutely phenomenal. There was a live band, as well as a very detailed and fun set, making the experience very immersive. The costumes fit the characters very well, the actors' portrayal of their characters' situation and emotions were beautiful, and the comedy was on point.
They also gave people the opportunity to sign up to be a part of the show; they were selected by chance at the beginning of the show, brought up on stage as participants in the spelling bee, at first given an easy word, roped into the dance number "Pandemonium", and then given a hard word(s) to spell until they made a mistake and were led offstage, being handed a juicebox as a reward for their participation. Such a fun way to engage with the audience and make the show even wilder, and who better to be given this opportunity than one of our troupe members who's favorite musical has The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee since they were 12 years old: Mae Bridges!! She did a fantastic job blending in with the cast and gave us all a chuckle.
Penfold put on an amazing show, and will be performing this musical September 18th-21st & September 25th-28th so we highly recommend going to see it for yourself (more information & tickets are available here)! This was an amazing troupe night, and we can't wait for the next one!!
Pippin Auditions, Callbacks, & Casting
(Added 09/15/25)
Auditions, callbacks, and casting for our musical have finished up! Here's the rundown of how it went:
Vocal auditions and an audition form for Pippin were due on the Pippin Google Classroom on August 18th at 9pm. Everyone who submitted both of those were invited to the reading audition, which was held August 25th in the Black Box Theater and ran by Brent Irwin, and the dance audition, which was held August 26th in the 900 Dance Studio and ran by Julia Chapman.
A select number of those people were called back to sing solos for specific characters. There was only one round of callbacks this year, which was both nerve-wracking and calming.
Finally, on September 9th, the Pippin cast list was posted (first on the callboard in the morning, then later on the Pippin Google Classroom)! If you haven't seen it, here it is (it will also be linked on the Shows page:
Thank you to everyone who auditioned and congratulations to everyone who got in! Rehearsals for the musical should begin immediately after It's A Wonderful Life closes, so keep an eye out for that. Later on in the year (likely October-December), information about applying to do tech for the musical will come out, so keep an eye out for that too. This is a fantastic cast and we can't wait to see what magic you make in January!!
It's A Wonderful Life Auditions, Callbacks, & Casting
(Added 08/26/25)
This past week has been packed with auditions & callbacks for our fall show, It's A Wonderful Life (IAWL)!! For anyone interested, here's a summary on how those went:
August 19th-20th, auditions for IAWL were held in the Black Box Theater after school & were run by director Anna Nelson (with help from Grace Nelson, her older sister & RRHS alumni). People could come one day or both if they wanted. People were assigned to read for specific characters on specific scenes/sides, had 5 minutes to prepare with their scene partner(s), and then presented their scene/side to the director & audience (which consisted of everyone else that was auditioning). There were 2 rounds of reading on day 1, and 3 rounds on day 2.
There were 2 rounds of callbacks. The first callback list was posted around 11pm on August 20th, and everyone who got called back was officially a part of the cast. This list consisted of everyone in the cast no matter if they were being considered to play a lead or ensemble. The first round of callbacks was held on August 21st after the August Thespian Meeting in the Black Box Theater, and was run relatively similarly to auditions with some differences, such as people only having 3 minutes to prepare during the first 2 rounds and eventually having no time to prepare, people being called up to swap with an actor on stage, & being given notes by director Nelson during their scene/side. The last callback list was posted later that night, consisting of people called back for specific roles. It went basically the same as the first round of callbacks.
Finally, on August 25th, the cast list was put on the callboard during the school day & later on the IAWL Google Classroom. In case you haven't seen it, here is the official IAWL cast list:
It's A Wonderful Life Cast List
If you did not get in, don't be discouraged. The future holds much in store for you, both in theatre & in life, so don't let one show get you down. All of the people who auditioned gave it their all & showed off great skill; it was wonderful to see what the future generations of RRHS Theatre will bring.
Congratulations to everyone who was cast! This is a very skilled & creative cast and no matter what role they got, they are going to do amazing things!! Remember that the first IAWL rehearsal is Wednesday, August 27th, 4:30pm-6:30pm in the Black Box Theater.
Shoutout to Anna Nelson, our phenomenal student director who ran auditions, callbacks, & cast this show; she's already proving to be a fantastic leader and she's going to make this production spectacular! Thank you to everyone who auditioned, and congratulations once again to the cast of It's A Wonderful Life!!
Theatre Open House
(Added 08/24/25)
On August 23rd, 2025, parents & students were invited to come to our RRHS Theatre Open House! It was a very full audience, which is really exciting & we're so glad that so many parents & students showed up!!
At the open house, the booster club president, Shelley Nelson, talked about several things such as what the boosters do for Thespians & the shows, how much donations help the program, buying merchandise, sponsorship opportunities, and much more. Directors introduced themselves & talked about the productions that we will be doing this year, such as the fall show, musical, & UIL, as well as the in class productions we do, such as the musical showcases & senior directs. Thespian officers introduced themselves, talked about their responsibilites, and when & where the mainstage shows will be happening (that information is on the Shows page).
Afterwards, parents were able to buy merchandise, sign up to become a member of the booster club, & ask officers, boosters, or directors any questions they had. There were free refreshments & cookies that people could partake in, and there was lots of socializing for both parents & students!!
If you're interested in the booster club, check out their website, which is linked on the Home page.
Thank you to everyone who helped set up beforehand & cleaned up afterwards, your help was greatly appreciated!!
We hope you & your parents had a good time & learned a lot about what we do here at RRHS Theatre! Thanks for attending our open house!!
Technician Interest Form for It's A Wonderful Life
(Added 08/15/25)
Hey there technicians! Are you interested in doing tech for our fall show, It's A Wonderful Life? Well then you should fill out this form (due 08/29/25)!!
Make sure that you're signed in on your student Google account, otherwise you will not be able to access the form. We don't know when tech roles will be announced (probably mid-late September), so sit tight & make sure to keep showing your interest, dedication, & passion to tech by going to Thespian meetings & events, as well as participating in class!!
Audition Workshop
(Added 08/15/25)
On August 14th, we held an audition workshop in the Black Box Theater after school! This workshop consisted of dancing, acting, singing, & tech. 52 people showed up, with a great mix of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, & seniors!! Since so many people showed up, we ended up splitting into groups: one group did dancing first & then switched to acting, one group did acting first & then switched to dancing, and one group solely did tech. At the end, everyone (except for tech) came together for the singing section.
The acting section was led by Anna Nelson & partly Evan Welch, who gave advice for doing cold read auditions & preparation advice. Then, people were paired up & given sides/scenes to work on for a couple of minutes, then present them to everyone & receive feedback. This is very similar to how auditions for the fall show, musical, & UIL go (aside from the part where you receive feedback), and was a great simulation to prepare Thespians for the upcoming It's A Wonderful Life auditions August 19th-20th & the Pippin reading audition August 25th. Great work to everyone who performed & gave feedback, it's important to lose that stage fright early on & analyze how you & others can do better to be ready for auditions at RRHS (and even some auditions in the real world)!!
The tech section was led by Avery Rogers & Sydiphys Morgan-Judd, who gave a presentation about the different technical positions for shows at RRHS & how to apply to do tech for shows. They also asked people what they wanted to specialize in tech wise & shared some stuff about past shows & technical experiences. If you missed the tech segment, the presentation will be attached here. Thank you to everyone who stuck around and learned about tech, we really appreciate when people take interest in tech & we love getting to meet new technicians!!
The dancing section was led by Julia Chapman, who taught people a dance combo that she came up with. This dance combo was similar in style to the Pippin choreography we will have so as to prepare people for the Pippin dance audition on August 26th. Great job to everyone who participated, all the sweat & exhaustion is a tell tale sign that you put in effort & did your best!!
The singing section was led by Anna Nelson, who gave everyone sheet music, talked about the basics you should know for your vocal audition & singing in general, and had everyone sing Magic To Do from Pippin. She gave feedback to those who sang & also gave advice to anyone who asked regarding the Pippin vocal audition that is due August 18th. Great job to everyone who sang, it can be scary to put yourself out there but I'm sure you all sounded good & letting yourself be vulnerable is an important part of learning & growing both in theatre and in life!!
Thank you to everyone who showed up & participated! We loved getting to meet so many new people as well as connect with familiar faces. We hope that you all enjoyed the workshop & now feel well prepared for the upcoming auditions!!

Hello Thespians, hope you've been having a great summer so far! Today (July 19th, 2025), we held our Summer Pool Party, where we got to eat some good food, splash around in the pool, catch up with each other, and reveal this year's fall show and musical (check out the Shows page to find out what they are). We are so excited to put on these shows this year and we are even more excited for the school year and all our other thespian activities to start! It was great getting to meet some of our incoming freshman and people newly interested in being a Thespian, as well as reconnecting with the people we know and love in this community. Thank you Julia and the Chapman family for hosting the party (your house is awesome), Anna for editing the reveal video, and Evan, Avery, Julia's mom, and everyone else for taking pictures! We can't wait to get this fun new year started and we hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!!
Ford's Theatre Cleanup & Decorating
(Added 06/18/25)
On June 17th & 18th, the officers and several Thespians, consisting of a great mix of actors and technician and ranging from incoming freshman to high school graduates, came together to help clean out, organize, and decorate Ford's Theatre.
On day 1, we split up into 3 groups: surface cleaning (sweeping, wiping, mopping), props (organizing), and furniture (moving & organizing). We ended up putting away some furniture pieces in FNAF (700 cafeteria storage area) and the piano room in Ford's. We also organized the prop room and completely cleared up the wings and the green room.
On day 2, we worked on making posters to put up in the windows of Ford's, and designated a category for each window. We also bought extra supplies so that we can update and add things to these windows throughout the year. At the end of the day, we put up a poster in each window.
Throughout all of this, there were some issues with the lights in Ford's Theatre that resulted in us having to take down the center blizzard, but don't fret because we plan to find a replacement/solution once the school year starts.
Overall, Ford's Theatre is much cleaner, much easier to navigate, and looks a lot more free and fun! Thank you to everyone who came out, brought materials, and helped with such a hard yet crucial task!!
Pictures 1-4 are of the wings & backstage after the cleanup. So much clearer and safer to navigate; let's do our best to keep it this tidy!!
Pictures 5 & 6 are some of the posters we made and put up in the display windows outside of Ford's Theatre. Trust me when I say the photos don't do them justice; these are so pretty and the effort put into them is evident!!
Some of the volunteers from day 1!! (not featured here but showed up [this is based on memory so if I forgot you I apologize]: Allison Catlett, Nico Gallegos, Dominic Ferrigno, Mae Bridges)
Some of the volunteers from day 2!! (not featured here but showed up [this is based on memory so if I forgot you I apologize]: Nico Gallegos, Ryan Crosby, Jade Castillo)
