Title: Some stable-like random walks on finitely generated nilpotent groups

Abstract: In this talk, I will report on join work with ZQ Chen, T. Kumagai, J. Wang, T. Zheng, and also graduate student Ruoqi Zhang, in search for a theory of stable-like random walks on nilpotent groups.  Keeping in mind the important role of the notion of operator stable Levy process, what are natural examples of stable-like random walks and how to study their key properties?
