On behalf of KUKKIWON, Mayor Park, the Head of the Korean Delegation Team, conferred the prestigious "KUKKIWON Honorary 7 Dan" to Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, the Hon'ble Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of India. This honor marks a historic moment as Shri Sonowal becomes the first-ever Central Sports Minister in India to receive this unique recognition. In 2011, India had the honor of hosting the first-ever KUKKIWON demonstration team as part of the "Indo-Korean Taekwondo Cultural Festival & International Award Ceremony." The event, organized by Roy's Taekwondo Academy and the Taekwondo Association of West Bengal in collaboration with the Department of Information & Cultural Affairs, Government of West Bengal, marked a significant milestone in the promotion of Taekwondo in India. This historic occasion showcased world-class demonstrations and celebrated the rich cultural exchange between India and Korea, further strengthening the bond through Taekwondo.
