This is Coach Crum’s fourth year of coaching high school cross country. She is super excited and has been running since she first discovered cross country running when she was 14 years old. Although she was born to a family of cross country runners she did not discover her love for running until she was trying out for another sport and a mile time trial was required. She remembers her family hosting pasta feeds when she was three years old and is so happy it is a tradition at RHS. Coach Crum grew up in Ohio where she studied Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Dayton and also competed in Division 1 Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Track. Although she started her career working with athletes providing sports nutrition counseling, she now works in public health providing nutrition and infant feeding education to families. Coach Crum continues to run but now it’s for fun. She continues to enjoy running marathons having completed 9 and has especially enjoyed it when there is a BQ involved!
Coach Richard has been determined and hard working from the get go. As a self- made man in the professional world, Richard decided to shift a large part of his focus to coaching and guiding his own children and their teammates over twelve years ago.
During this time, Richard reflected on his childhood and realized the incredible value in being a supportive, understanding, motivating adult/coach in any child’s life. He believes that had he had influences of that type as a child, he would have been much more involved in sports than he was able to be.
Richard’s personal goal as a coach regardless of the sport or age has always been to teach while helping children become even stronger, more confident human beings. The value of support and encouragement has always been key whether it be T-ball players or high school track athletes. He is incredibly excited to take on this role within the cross country family!
