We are HIRING coaches this year.
Rose City Rebels is a community-based fastpitch softball organization helping girls in Oregon transition from Little League to travel and high school softball in a fun, supportive, and affordable environment. Our focus is on player development, confidence-building, and creating opportunities for athletes to continue growing their love for the game.
The season will run from June 15 – August 15, with practices on Mondays and Wednesdays and games on Fridays. Exact practice times and field locations will be announced once teams are finalized. Tenative locations include: Rieke Elementary and Gabriel Park (SW Portland), Berkley (SE Portland), Roosevelt (North Portland), and Parkrose (NE Portland). We are actively trying to book field time on the east side.
There will be NO weekend tournaments — allowing athletes (and coaches!) to stay competitive while still enjoying their summers, family time, and other activities. Our focus is on player development, confidence, and creating a positive experience for every athlete. League rules are designed to maximize learning and participation, including a 5-run limit per inning, pitching limits to protect athletes’ arms, and randomized batting orders to ensure every player has opportunities to contribute and grow.
This summer marks a major milestone: the launch of Portland’s first recreational fastpitch softball league created specifically for teenage girls. We’re not just building teams — we’re making HERSTORY.
Each team will roster up to 15 players and will be led by two coaches to ensure athletes receive individualized support, instruction, and mentorship throughout the season.
This application will close 5/25. We will begin interviewing coaches on 5/26. RCR Summer registration closes 5/31. Number of coaches will be determined by the number of teams.
Coaches must be at least 18 years old by 6/1/2026.
At the conclusion of the season, coaches will receive a $1,000 stipend in recognition of their time, leadership, and commitment to athlete development.
Coaches will need to complete a series of coaching training requirements including:
