H. E. Mr. Prajin Juntong is Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister since 2015 and Minister of Justice since 2017. He has previously served as Minister of Transport in 2014 and as Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force in 2012. In his role as Minister of Justice he aims to promote the rule of law and transparency within the justice system. He is an advocate and leader for social equality and the promotion and protection of human rights.
H. E. Mr. Arkhom Termpittayapisith is Thailand's Minister of Transport since 2015. Prior to his appointment, he has served as Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Board and as a Member of the National Legislative Assembly. He has taken a lead role in many infrastructure development projects and the formulation of development strategies which have been key for Thailand to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. His roles also extend toward the international community through his extensive involvement in neighboring countries development cooperation especially in cross-border infrastructure projects to connect all the Greater Mekong Sub-regional Economic Cooperation (GMS) countries which lead to the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity.
Mr. Isra Sunthornvut is Secretary General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly since 2016. He was first elected as a Member of Parliament for Bangkok under the Democrat Party in 2001 and has been involved in Thai politics in various capacities since, such as; Spokesman and Advisor to the Bangkok Governor, Secretary to the Opposition Leader of the House of Representatives (2 terms), Deputy Secretary General to the Prime Minister (Abhisit Vejjajiva), Vice Minister to the Prime Minister's Office (attached to the Prime Minister), and Party List MP. From 2001 to present, he has been columnist for Thai Post and has contributed numerous articles for numerous publications.
Mr. Suriya Chindawongse serves as Director-General, Department of ASEAN Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. A career diplomat, he first served as Third Secretary, East Asian Affairs Department and Office of the Minister in 1993. Since then, he has served in various capacities within the Thai Foreign Ministry, as Counselor, Chief of Policy Unit, Department of ASEAN Affairs in 2004, Director, ASEAN Division 1, Department of ASEAN Affairs in 2011, and Minister Attached to Department of ASEAN Affairs in 2014. In 2015, he was appointed as Deputy Director-General in the Department of ASEAN Affairs.
Mr. Jeremy Douglas is the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Southeast Asia and the Pacific overseeing and managing operations and strategy from Myanmar to the Pacific in the areas of the rule of law, non-traditional security threats, law enforcement, criminal justice and drug-related supply and health issues. He is also the UNODC liaison to China, Korea, Japan and Mongolia and to regional organisations including the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS). Prior to his appointment as Regional Representative SEAP, he was the UNODC Representative in Pakistan from September 2009 - April 2013.
H. E. Mr. Lutfi Rauf is the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Indonesia. He has over 30 years of experience working in foreign policy and affairs since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1986. He has also served as Ambassador to the Slovak Republic (2007-2008) and as the Ambassador of Indonesia to Thailand and Representative to UNESCAP (2012 to 2016).
Ambassador Donica Pottie is the Ambassador of Canada to the Kingdom of Thailand. She joined External Affairs and International Trade Canada in 1991. She was third and second secretary at the embassy in China (1993 to 1996), served in assignments at the embassy in Jordan as head of the political section (1999 to 2002) and was ambassador to Cambodia (2004 to 2007). She was the director of several divisions: Democracy and Governance Policy (2007 to 2010), Development Policy and Institutions (2012 to 2013) and Peace Operations and Fragile States Policy (2013 to 2015). In 2015, she became director general of consular operations.
Mr. Tsuyoshi Nishitani is Regional Head for Asia and Pacific of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) since 2017. He has experienced a variety of financing operations in the bank, such as financing for Energy and Natural Resources sector as the Director of Energy and Natural Resources Financial Department, supporting Japanese companies’ foreign investments as the Deputy Head of Corporate Finance Department. Focusing on Asia, he was assigned to JBIC New Delhi office as Representative from 1995 to 1998. Also at the headquarter of JBIC, he worked as the Deputy Director in charge of Asia and Pacific area, including extending loans towards China, Vietnam and so other countries.
Ms. Dana Graber Ladek is Chief of Mission for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with over 20 years of experience in humanitarian aid, development programming, programme management and multidisciplinary team management in coordination with government agencies, the United Nations, and national and international organizations. Her assignments prior to joining IOM Thailand in 2016 include: Regional Project Development Specialist for the IOM Regional Office for Central America and the Caribbean, based in San Jose, Costa Rica (2011-2016); Head of the IOM Regional Support Unit for South-Eastern Europe, based in Budapest, Hungary (2008-2011); Displacement Specialist for IOM Iraq based in Amman, Jordan (2005-2008); Programme Liaison for the IOM Washington Regional Office based in Washington, DC (2003-2005), and Director of Outreach for The Communitarian Network (2002-2003).
Mr. Yann Duval is Chief of the Trade Policy and Facilitation Section for the Trade and Investment Division, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). He led the development of the Asia-Pacific Trade and Investment Report 2017 on "Channelling Trade and Investment into Sustainable Development". He spearheaded the development of the Asia-Pacific Research and Training Network on Trade, as well as the creation of the ESCAP-World Bank Trade Cost Database and the UN Global Survey on Trade Facilitation and Paperless Trade Implementation. Mr. Duval was also instrumental in the development of the UN Network of Experts for Paperless Trade and Transport in Asia and the Pacific and the negotiation of a new intergovernmental Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-Border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific, adopted as a UN treaty in 2016.
Mr. Francesco Checchi is the Regional Anti-Corruption Adviser for UNODC ROSEAP. He has more than 13 years of experience working in international organizations in the area of good governance, public administration reform and anti-corruption. His work focuses on providing support to Member States of the UN Convention Against Corruption for implementation of the Convention; he provides expert advice and input to the development and implementation of technical assistance programmes in anti-corruption at the regional and/or national levels in Southeast Asia and South Asia. He specializes in developing anti-corruption policy and regulatory frameworks at national and sub-national levels; providing technical assistance to independent agencies and governmental units dealing with anti-corruption or responsible for promoting transparency and accountability as well as sound public financial management in public services; development of integrity and disciplinary mechanisms in the line Ministries; development of anti-corruption legal frameworks and supporting criminal justice mechanisms to fight corruption.
Ms. Anna-Karin Jatfors is the UN Women Deputy Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific. In this capacity, she oversees the development and implementation of policies and programmes to empower women and girls and advance gender equality; delivers strategic and technical guidance to offices across the region; and engages in extensive advocacy, coordination and capacity-building with a range of partners. A national of Sweden, Anna-Karin has more than 15 years’ experience working on women’s and children’s rights, combined with a background in communications and advocacy. She has served as Regional Programme Manager for Ending Violence against Women, as Asia-Pacific Manager for the Secretary-General’s UNiTE campaign, and with UNICEF in New York and in Indonesia.
Mr. Vitat Vajropala is Assistant-Director at the Department of Trade Negotiations, Ministry of Commerce of Thailand. Previously, he was the Executive Director of the Bureau of Trade Capacity Enhancement. He has held several positions related to ASEAN trade and the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), including Director of the ASEAN Bilateral Cooperation Division and Chief of AEC Information Center Section. He was also part of the Thai delegation for the ASEAN-China FTA and a member of the ASEAN Harmonized Tariff Nomenclature Task Force.
Captain Martin A Sebastian is the Senior Fellow/Centre Head at the Centre for Maritime Security and Diplomacy. He joined the Maritime Institute of Malaysia (MIMA) in November 2011 after 33 years of shore and sea based appointments in the Royal Malaysian Navy. Prior to joining MIMA, Capt. Martin completed three years of Secondment with the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, United Nations Headquarters, New York. He served in the Office of Military Affairs as a Strategic Planner in the Military Planning Service. His field of expertise is on Regional Security Architectures, Sea Power, Law Enforcement, Security Sector Reforms, Maritime Terrorism, Security in the Maritime Industry, Maritime Search and Rescue and Disaster Relief from the sea.
Ms. Nicole Quijano-Evans is a Crime Prevention Expert at UNODC in Vienna. She has more than 15 years of progressive professional experience in developing, implementing and managing technical assistance projects to enhance the capacity of criminal justice to support them in their fight against transnational organized crime, in particular trafficking in counterfeit goods, drugs, human organs, as well as environmental crime. She is currently working as a project manager on the global implementation of the UNODC - WCO Container Control Programme. Prior to joining the UNODC, Ms. Quijano-Evans worked for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris. She was involved in the monitoring process of the implementation of the OECD convention on corruption and worked on anti-corruption and ethics related projects in Russia and the Baltic States.
Mr. Hernan Longo is a Programme Officer for Counter-Terrorism at UNODC ROSEAP. He has a proven track record of 25-year combined national and international experience on criminal justice matters, dealing mostly with issues such as drug trafficking, financial crimes and terrorism. His past experiences include: Team Leader of the European Union's CT MORSE Project, UNODC Terrorism Prevention Expert for Latin America and the Caribbean, and national criminal justice official at the National Judicial Branch in Argentina. He has extensive experience in providing targeted assistance to line ministries, financial intelligence units and regulators on preventing and countering terrorist financing.
Mr. Robert Thommen has worked for the U.S. government for over 26 years and is currently appointed as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Attaché, U.S. Embassy, Bangkok. He is responsible for supporting U.S. efforts in capacity building and collaboration with the governments of Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar on key issues involving trade enforcement, forced labor, immigration enforcement, human trafficking, and counter-terrorism cooperation. He previously served as an Assistant Center Director for the CBP Consumer Products and Mass Merchandising, Center of Excellence and Expertise based in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to his work in the Center, he also served as the CBP Attaché, U.S. Embassy Tokyo and worked as a program manager at CBP headquarters in Washington D.C in the Risk Management Division and the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program.
Mr. Nuon Chanrith is the Deputy Director General for the Cambodian General Department of Customs and Excise. He has more than two decades of experiences working in the Customs Administration, rising from front line officer to Deputy Director General of Customs and Excise since 2012. Prior to his customs career, he also has a background serving as an taxation authority. He has attended many trainings and meetings in his home country and overseas to exchange information and experiences. His career path gave him a great deal of experiences working with other international customs administrations as well as private sectors. Processing all these experiences and knowledge led Mr. Nuon Chanrith to become one of the senior customs officer who led the development strategic plans toward Cambodia Customs Reform and Modernization including the preparation of Cambodia for the ASEAN Economic integration.
Mr. Remington Low has worked in the aviation field for the past 24 years. Currently Mr. Low is the Regional Officer, Aviation Security and Facilitation for the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Asia and Pacific Regional Office. Prior to joining the Regional Office, spent the last 14 years in the ICAO Headquarters in Montreal, Canada, beginning with the Aviation Security Audit Section before assuming the role of the Audit Information Officer with both the ICAO’s Universal Security Audit Programme related to Security and the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme related to Safety.
Mr. Gerson Bergeth is a technology project manager who has worked in Europe, Asia and Africa. He has implemented solutions for civil engineering, disaster relief, government services and enterprise solutions. He has launched projects for start-ups, UN agencies, government departments, and consultancy firms. He is currently the UNODC Regional Programme Manager for a ASEAN-wide portfolio of border management efforts and is working to improve the capacity of governments to understand and manage the risks of trade and security. His last assignment was focused on developing solutions for border management of the Syrian humanitarian response by the UK government.
