 EMILY ROSE SCHILLER - FOUNDER, DIRECTOR, AND EDUCATOR

Emily Rose believes in inspiring students to love learning. She spent over a decade directing her education business teaching hundreds of private, public, and homeschool students tens of thousands of hours at every grade level, preschool through 12th grade. She taught and tutored in all major subjects as well as elective courses such as business, foreign language, and standardized test preparation. She successfully directed homeschools, consulted in education, and developed inspiring curriculum.

Her experience led her to develop a specialized approach to the intellectual process students move through to grow. She created a classroom model that considers design of the environment, curated curriculum and materials, and specific procedure for students to be optimally inspired. Rose Academy is the outcome of this labor of love.

Emily Rose holds a Bachelor of Arts in History of Art from Pepperdine University. She graduated Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, a college-preparatory high school in Omaha, Nebraska. She lives in Southern California with her family - her husband and son.

OUR NAME

Rose Academy is named after three remarkable women who became Catholic saints: Saint Rose of Lima, Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne, and Saint Rosa of Venerini.

Born in late 16th-century Peru, Saint Rose of Lima was known for being a prayer warrior. We honor daily prayer as a formative element of student life.

Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne was a founding nun for the Religious Sisters of the Sacred Heart. Saint Rose is considered the patron saint of perseverance in the face of adversity as she set about her vocation serving as a missionary and educator on the American frontier in the 19th century. We believe in nurturing scholars’ unique gifts and dreams as it sets them upon the path of discovering their vocation.

In 17th-century Italy, Saint Rosa of Venerini founded nearly forty schools. These schools pioneered establishing new educational models including the education of women and girls which was widely non-existent. When a school opened, the community soon noted improvement in the youth. She faced considerable scrutiny, however, remained steadfast especially as she saw it fulfill God’s purpose for her life. Our programmes engage scholars in educational experiences that build life and leadership skills.

We were fortunate enough to meet Emily Rose a number of years ago and my children have grown tremendously through her instruction. Their work has ranged from language arts to mathematics and beyond. Emily Rose was the elementary homeschool "pod" teacher for my two daughters and the two daughters of another family (kindergarten, 1st and 3rd grades) during Fall 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic school closures. Emily Rose brought joy, originality, passion and creativity into my daughters' education during what was an otherwise extremely challenging time for education. She created a comprehensive curriculum that included math, science, literature, geography, penmanship, physical education, cooking and art. Emily Rose was able to teach each child in the group at their individual level and had a commanding presence which created a calm learning environment.
