About me
I have been a Language Professor and Cognitive Linguistics Scientist at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Sao Paulo (IFSP) in São João da Boa Vista since August, 2010. From 2020 to 2024, I was a professor in the Master’s Program in Professional and Technological Education at IFSP-Sertãozinho. In 2025, I became full professor.
I completed my PhD in Linguistics in 2012 at the State University of Sao Paulo (Unesp) under the supervision of Dr. Antonio Suarez Abreu.
In 2018/2019, I was a Post-Doc Visiting Researcher in the Department of Cognitive Science at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland/OH-USA and worked with Dr. Mark Turner on science communication in a project related to what I do in my lab Laletec at IFSP for the teaching of scientific writing. I am the leader of the Research Group in Scientific Communication aCOMTECe.
In 2024/2025 I worked as a visiting professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB), at the College of Communication, Administration and Tourism (EsACT), in Mirandela campus, in Portugal.
In 2025, I completed a post-graduation in Psychoanalysis and the analysis of the contemporary at PUCRS. My research was on the blending between psychoanalysis knowledge and teaching experience as education becomes an uneasy singularity.
In 2014, I completed a post-graduation course in Educational Design for on-line learning and since then I have been working on how to use educational technology in the language classroom. From 2019 to 2021 I was the coordinator of an online post-graduation course in Education & Technology at IFSP.
I have been interested in Science Communication and have been working on multimodality in communication with the use of Data Science tools and Empirical Methods in Cognitive Linguistics. Also, I have focused my applied research in Education on the production of learning objects based both on the integration with interaction and user experience design and on social pedagogy.
My research interests are: Cognitive Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Scientific Communication, Writing as a Learning Process, Cognitive Narrative, Frame Semantics, Multimodality in Language, Argumentation and Rhetoric, Technology and Education and Educational Assessment.
