FoMac wheels [also known as clays or FM] are typically made of a blend of [literal] clay and plastic. The main purpose is to try to provide a sliding experience that dissipates a little energy. These wheels will provide a consistent sliding experience and work on most smooth surfaces I have skated on. FM wheels have a balance of grip and slip that can lock into coated floors.
FoMac wheels do not deform and thus, there is a lot of feedback from the wheels. Being a solid mass, vibrations travel unfettered into the plate of the skate. To the uninitiated, it may be sensory overload. Because of this, we strongly recommend checking the skate surface and exercising caution the first one or two times around a new rink. (This is good practice going around any rink in any wheels just to train and remind the brain that the rules for skating may be a little different.)
FoMac wheels will make the skater aware that they can push in all directions but will give the safety of rolling straight. Pushing off will initiate a slide from the pushing foot (and possibly the stable one depending on the skater's weight and sturdiness).
Be mindful that:
Tight corners will need a change in approach,
Aggressive pivots turn into slides, and
Aggressive braking techniques turn into slides.
More susceptible to water
Easy recommendation for a skater wanting to add little slides to their footwork. Detroit wheel material mainstay

Here is my best estimation of slip:grip [and definition].

[In my not-at-all-humble opinion,] These are not advanced wheels; they offer a fundamentally are a different skating experience
[Not a matter of opinion, but straight facts ->] Fiberglass wheels are the best sliding wheels; they resist flat spots well
Find a local that you can borrow them from to try out (make sure you won't gouge the floor out though)
Go vanathane if you want to be more dynamic/dance [in the middle].
Go FoMac if you want to jump.
