Rollo printers are reputed thermal label devices manufactured by an American company. These printers are compact and ideal for e-commerce businesses and logistics, as they allow users to create stickers, barcode labels, shipping labels, and more. They are available with different connectivity options, such as USB and Bluetooth, depending on the model. Since they are ink-free and use direct thermal printing, they reduce the need for ink or toner.
If you’re unfamiliar with the setup and installation of these printers, this guide will walk you through the steps. So, get ready with your printer and device to start printing.
Before installing your printer on a device, power it on and wait until the LED light turns solid. Make sure your printer is near a power outlet so it’s easy to connect and power on. If you’re using a wireless connection, make sure your printer isn’t placed in a corner. Instead, try to keep it near the Wi-Fi router. Otherwise, your printer may experience connectivity issues.
I’ll explain the printer setup on a smartphone first, as most users prefer using smartphones. All you need to do is go to the App Store or Play Store on your smartphone and search for the Rollo app in the search bar. Once you see it in the results, select it and click Install or Get. After the installation is complete, open the app and create a new Rollo account. If you already have an account, then simply log in.
Open the Rollo app you installed earlier and tap the "Add printer" option. To connect the printer to Wi-Fi, press and hold the Wi-Fi button for 5 seconds until the light starts flashing. Select your Wi-Fi network on the printer, then enter the correct password.
Note: Check your Wi-Fi password for typos. Since people often make mistakes during printer setup, you should ensure that the blue light on your printer turns solid.
If you’re a computer user and want to set up your Rollo printer on a computer, below are the steps to set it up.
Ensure that your printer is well connected to the wireless network.
Go to rollo.com/setup and download the correct printer drivers for your system.
On a Windows computer, go to the Start menu at the bottom, and search for Settings.
Then, click on Bluetooth & Devices, and select Printers & Scanners.
Next, click on the “Add Device” option and select your printer from the list.
If you’re using a Mac system, go to the Apple menu and click on the System Preferences option.
Afterward, select Printers & Scanners, and click the (+) sign to add the printer.
Finally, select the printer’s name from the list.
That’s it for connecting your printer to a Windows or Mac computer. If your system doesn’t immediately show the printer in the results, wait a minute, then select your printer.
It's possible your printer doesn’t appear in the list, or it connects but doesn’t print. Moreover, it may not print labels correctly. In this situation, you can follow a few troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.
If you are connecting your printer to a computer or mobile device and it doesn't appear, the internet connection might be the reason. Ensure you press and hold the wireless button on your printer until the blue light starts flashing.
You may notice that your printer is not printing labels even when connected to a device. The issue occurs when your printer and device are not connected to the same network. Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network, then set up the device.
If your Rollo printer isn’t printing labels correctly, it’s time to rerun calibration using the “r” button (Rollo feed button). Once you click the “r” button, a beep indicates that the printer should measure and adjust the label size.
If your system is not detecting your printer, your devices may not be on the same network. Additionally, your printer may not be properly connected to a wireless network. Hence, ensure both devices are on the same network, and power-cycle them.
Yes, you can use the printer without installing ink or toner because it runs by direct thermal technology. Therefore, you can simply print labels without maintaining ink or toner. So, you can use it for high-volume label printing.
Rollo printers support a wide range of label sizes. From 4 x 6 labels to custom stickers and barcode labels, it supports many common label sizes. You can adjust the label size using printer settings, and to change the label size, rerun the calibration on the printer.
