In July 2024, a new Singaporean theatre collective, The Winter Players staged their inaugural professional production: the Singapore Premiere of Christopher Marlowe's seminal Doctor Faustus. I was not only involved in the founding of this collective, but also served as an actor and Assistant Director on this production of the Faustian tale, which had many modern references thrown in. From sourcing funding to logistics to front-of-house management, our team was faced with the challenges of mounting a production without any external help, and we rose to the occassion to present a fully sold-out ticketed run.
I played five roles in this production - Cornelius, the Pope, a Friar, the Servant, Alexander, and a member of the ensemble. This experience allowed me to get to know the production intimately, and allowed me to assist our director with smaller, comic scenes, while he focused on the gargantuan task of tuning the relationship between Faustus and Mephistopheles. Overall, a hectic, chaotic, and immensely fun process.

The Pope flaunts his dainty dish sent by the Cardinal of Kentucky (it's a box of KFC) for St. Peter's Holy Feast.
Demons encircle Faustus to shower him with riches, per Mephistopheles' instructions.
The Pope gets assailed by Faustus, who is invisible.
The Servant confronts the ragtag bunch of Clowns at the Duke of Vanholt's estate.
