An artistic exhibition of offensive and defensive methods utilizing a stick, a wooden imitation of a bladed weapon, or a metallic un-bladed duplicate of a weapon is known as Arnis Anyo (form). Anyo is the combination of different striking and defense techniques that is executed artistically with a different pattern movements or routine, depending on the student ability level.
In the competition of Anyo it comprises of different divisions of anyo; a.) single weapon, b.) double weapon, and c. sword & dagger weapon categories, both in the individual and team events. the performance's time limit shall be one (1) minute for the minimum and two (2) minutes for the maximum.
The scores of the judges are base in the criteria. For the individual event the student must have coordination of movements because it is what the judges is looking for during performance, the result of the competition will be ranked based on the scores from the judges.
In creating the routine of anyo, it requires inventiveness and imaginativeness of the movement and form without sacrificing the effectiveness of the martial art movements. Learning this requires time and effort and it takes months of training to master the routine depending to the difficulty level of the anyo.
Similar to dancing or other kinds of art, anyo can be a means of expressing one's feelings and emotions. As a kind of exercise and a way to express their creativity, teachers encourage students to create their own variations of anyo.
Provided below is the example of synchornize anyo competition.
