SS Component

A robot is a machine, especially one that is programmed, that is automatically capable of performing a series of complex actions. They can be controlled with an external device or controlled within itself. Robots have evolved overtime with the design, construction, operation, and applications. More practical applications like automatic machines, remote-control, and wireless remote-controls appeared.

Robots have been around since the ancient times. During the industrial revolution, humans have developed structural engineering capabilities to power machines with small electric motors. The concept of the humanoid machine did not come around until the early 20th century. In the 1950s, the first industrial robot was created by George Devol. He designed the Unimate, a robotic arm that transported die castings in a General Motors plant. However, the machine was not put into work until 1961, due to commercial failure. The idea of the robot arm kept developing for newer and better purposes.

Robots in the Present

Modern robots were first used in factories that could perform manufacturing tasks with less human labor. It has since found its way into homes and many other places. NASA, for example, used robotic rover in 2003 to explore the planet of Mars. Digitally programmed artificial intelligence that came about in the 2000s have started to be built into robots. As programming and technology improves, robots continue to find their way into many jobs and replacing human labor.
