The second "Robocoders Z in 4.0" project meeting has come to an end !!!

It has happened at last!!! On Sunday, February 9th 2020, we welcomed guests from abroad, our dear partners, to Sieradz as part of the Erasmus + Robocoders Z in 4.0 project. From Monday 10th February 2020, we hosted them in our school. This is the second - after Turkey - project meeting of students and teachers from Estonia, Turkey, Romania, Portugal, Italy and Poland. In total, there were 21 students and 9 teachers in the group of visitors.

On Monday in building A of our school, the guests were welcomed by the headmistress Renata Pawlikowska and deputy head teachers Mrs. Brygida Sikora and Mr. Piotr Bakowicz. We visited both buildings of our school. At the school common room in building B, we watched a presentation about Poland, Sieradz and Primary School No. 4 prepared by Polish students participating in the project. Then, we started working on project tasks. Until 4 p.m. we had a block coding workshop in Tinkercad 3D. The classes were conducted by Mr Bakowicz, and Mrs. Stobiecka played the role of translator.

The students managed to create two interesting projects: a mug with an Erasmus + inscription, and a butterfly. All students were very pleased and proud of themselves because they had never dealt with this program before, and yet the results of their work exceeded our expectations. Students gained new knowledge and skills which were the main goals of the projects. In the future, we will print 3D student designs. At the end of this busy day, each student created one slide in the Power Point program, in which he presented himself and his interests in English, and then read this information in front of the group.

On Tuesday, February 11th, 2020, we visited the Scanfil company in Sieradz, where we participated in the Lego Mindstorms EV3 and Lego Boost workshops and created spatial models using 3D pens. Robotics workshops were led by Mr. Damian Kruglak, owner of the company Twój Robot Sieradz, together with his employee. In Scanfil, we also visited the factory's production halls, and were guided by employees talking about the company's production and products. Everyone was very interested and asked a lot of questions. Scanfil welcomed us very warmly, for which we are thankful. In the afternoon we had the opportunity to swim in the pool belonging to Primary School No. 10 in Sieradz. We needed so much relaxation after two days of intensive work on project tasks. We are really grateful to the headmistress Helena Rajewska for providing us with the facility.

On Wednesday, February 12th, 2020, we went on a trip to Wroclaw. With the help of English-speaking guide, we visited the Old Town, walked along the Trail of Wroclaw gnomes and legends - Market Square, Town Hall, Pręgierz, Piwnica Świdnicka, Basilica of St. Elizabeth. Then we entered the Sky Tower to admire the panorama of Wroclaw from the 49th floor - from a height of 200 meters. After dinner, we visited Hydropolis, a knowledge center dedicated to water. We liked this place because it combines educational values with a modern exhibition form. Multimedia exhibitions were particularly popular among our students. Despite the windy weather, it was a wonderful and eventful trip.

On Thursday, February 13th, 2020, we paid a visit to Sieradz Town Office and met with President Paweł Osiewała. We also watched films promoting our city, then in a short interactive quiz Kahoot! checked our knowledge about Sieradz. After dinner we took part in the city game using the Action Bound application, which helps to familiarize our guests with the history, monuments and interesting places of our hometown. What's more, we could spend time in an active way, walking over 5 kilometers! After a short break, we met at our school in building B at the Valentine's disco. From 5 p.m. To 7 p.m. young people were having fun in the gym, making new international friends and practicing conversation in English. And then it was just sadness and tears ... It was time to say goodbye. A summary of the project meeting in Sieradz took place at the school common room. In the presence of our headmistress, teachers and students were given certificates of participation in mobility to Poland. There were mutual thanks for the wonderful time spent together, watching photos, hugs, exchanging phone numbers, email addresses. Our guests could help themselves to Polish cold cuts, black pudding “kaszanka” and pate, cheese, bread with lard and pickled cucumber, marinated mushrooms, yeast cake and buttermilk. Not everyone liked the Polish flavors.

Four days spent with our new friends were great! They were full of new experiences and unforgettable memories. Estonia, Turkey, Romania, Portugal and Italy - you will stay in our hearts forever !!!

Thanks to our mutual cooperation and harmonious work, we were able to achieve main goals: project tasks were completed, IT and language competences developed, and - most importantly - new friendships, which were established, would certainly last longer than the duration of our project.

Last but not least, we are very thankful to parents who, selflessly and extremely warmly welcomed children from abroad in their homes, showing them warmth, kindness and love. They provided our project guests with the best care, without expecting anything in return. Thank you with all our heart !!!
