Company A, First Battalion, First Marines was activated on 09 February Two Thousand and Twenty-Six by Lieutenant Colonel BMKPlaysWT, United States Marine Corps. The unit was established as an infantry element organized in support of Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC), structured to provide disciplined, expeditionary infantry forces capable of rapid employment from the maritime domain.
From its activation, Alpha Company was founded upon the enduring principles of the Marine Corps—readiness, adaptability, and the absolute commitment to mission accomplishment. Though modern in its formation, the unit consciously embraced the legacy of Marines who preceded it, drawing inspiration from the long and distinguished history of infantry units that have carried the colors of the Corps ashore in defense of the Nation.
Alpha Company was organized to maintain a high state of operational readiness from inception. Planning for the unit’s first deployment commenced upon activation, reinforcing the unit’s purpose as a forward-leaning, mission-focused organization prepared to deploy without delay. Training and leadership development were emphasized as core priorities to ensure the unit’s ability to operate in contested and austere environments.
The Marines of Alpha Company wear the uniform not solely as a symbol of service, but as a mark of earned trust and responsibility. The unit recognizes that every generation of Marines stands on the shoulders of those who came before—Marines who established the standards, bore the hardships, and set the example. Alpha Company exists to uphold those standards and to pass them forward unbroken.
Guided by its motto, “Mors Ex Mar, Ready From the Sea,” Alpha Company embodies the expeditionary spirit of the Marine Corps. The motto reflects the unit’s commitment to lethality, readiness, and maritime dominance—prepared to fight, deploy, and prevail wherever the Nation requires.
To future generations assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines:
The Marines who activated this unit in 2026 leave you not a finished legacy, but a foundation. What was established here was built with intent, discipline, and belief in the enduring strength of Marine Corps leadership. It is expected that you will refine it, strengthen it, and carry it further than we could.
May you honor those who stood before you by maintaining standards, developing your Marines, and remaining ready—always. Let this unit’s history be one of continuous improvement, and let its legacy be measured not by words, but by actions.
Mors Ex Mar. Ready From the Sea.
