I have always had ambitious goals and wished to accomplish them to the best of my ability. I knew what I wanted in life, where I wanted to be, and I thought my plan would barely change. Man was I wrong. I have learned over the course of my college career that many challenges lie ahead of your desired goals, and it's whether or not you persist through these challenges that drives you to become the person you want to be. Here is how said set backs affected my goals throughout college through my Journey Maps!
The journey map project displays "planned out" goals I would like to accomplish in order to achieve my ultimate goal by the end of my four years of college. As you can see, not all of these goals are directed toward becoming a forensic scientists, some of them are just goals I would like to reach while still in college.
The comparison between these two maps have truly shown and proven that you have little control over the events of your life; however, it also shows that you are more capable than what you believe. These journey maps have shown my growth tremendously by displaying my resilience for the "bumps" in the road on my way to where I am now. My junior year of college was a very difficult year for me in my academic and athletic careers as I had to make the decision to have surgery on my foot to then end my track season and make my time as a student more challenging as well. In addition, the persistance I had with finding an internship displays my drive and dedication towards the goals I want to achieve which would not have been a common push I would have had at the beginning of college. These past four years have shown that I have been knocked down many times in many different ways, but I have always come back up.
