This page shows my ability to create developmentally appropriate lessons for all learners, including students with special needs and diverse learners.
Indicator 1: Application of principles of human growth and development throughout life, including physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development, by designing appropriate learning experiences.
My artifact, Assignment 1 -Mathematics Objectives from CIME 670, lists the West Virginia state standards for sixth-grade mathematics and explains how the standards use multiple levels of Bloom's taxonomy to support students' development. In the article, I have unpacked a standard into "I am learning about" statements that address multiple levels of cognitive development and those in the action-based psychomotor and emotion-based affective domains.

Indicator 2: Developing strategies to support learners with special needs within the least restrictive environment.
The Special Needs Assignment from my EDF 619 course, linked below, is designed to show how a lesson plan can be developed or modified to support students with special needs in multiple ways. Using two different lesson plans, I listed multiple ways that students with cultural differences, motor disabilities, emotional disabilities, and hearing impairments can receive modifications in the lesson plans to help them participate and learn alongside their peers without disabilities. The linked article also includes strategies for supporting English language learners and gifted and talented students.
Indicator 3: Addressing the needs of diverse learners in terms of culture, race, gender, color, and language.
Artifact 5, linked below, was created for my EDF 619 course, and it addresses the needs of diverse learners in terms of culture and language. Specific strategies for students from other cultures include sharing experiences, storytelling, assigning diverse groups, and always respecting and reinforcing student cultures. As contained in the linked article, English language students should be provided material in their native language and have simplified instructions and assignment material. They also should be provided with E-dictionaries and graphic organizers to assist with their assignments.
