Appointment of Bestuur Van Groll

Enschede, 1 July 2025

On 25 May 2025 the Board Surodjo II of Stichting Ariëns Katholieke Studenten Enschede met the foundation’s Raad van Toezicht (Supervisory Board, RvT) to offer their resignation as of 1 July 2025. The RvT has accepted their resignation and expressed their gratitude to the members of the Board Surodjo II for their efforts and commitment to Catholic student life on the Enschede campus and the wider region. 

President Dante has served in three boards. At the start of 2022 Dante joined the Board Cuerdo del Rio. In the second half of that year, Dante became President of the Board Surodjo I. In 2024, Dante became President of the Board Surodjo II.

Secretary Mariana joined the Board Surodjo I in 2022 and continued her service in the Board Surodjo II. Board members Jude, Dominic and Andrea joined the Board Surodjo II in 2024. While also being full time university students, the Board members dedicated themselves to making Catholic students feel at home in Enschede. The Board Surodjo II made Catholic student life visible and welcoming. The RvT looks back in gratitude at working together with the departing members of the Board.

A great challenge has been the immediate finding of new members for a new Board. For the time being the RvT has appointed Aryo, Léon and Bienvenu as as interim members of the Board Van Groll.

The RvT appoints them with two main tasks, namely to find students for the Board of 2026 and to equip them with workable guidelines and tools. The initial steps the Interim-Board Van Groll plans to take will be the establishment of a prayer team that supports the Interim-Board and the wider Ariëns student community by their prayers. Secondly, the Interim-Board intends the establishment of a student panel, so the Interim-Board can discuss their plans and decisions with students and receive feedback.

The RvT wishes to highlight that before this appointment in the Interim-Board Van Groll, both Aryo and Léon were members of the RvT. The appointment of Aryo and Léon as interim members of the Board automatically involved their temporary resignation from the RvT. The RvT is thankful that they were willing to take this step, and intends to re-accept Aryo and Léon as members of the RvT once they are dismissed or once they resign from their position in the Interim-Board, pending of course any unforeseen developments.

The outgoing Board Surodjo II thanks the volunteers in the Ariëns student community for their dedicated collaboration, and the incoming Interim-Board Van Groll hopes that the volunteers will be happy to continue their collaboration with the new Interim-Board. The RvT and the Interim-Board ask you all for your prayers for faith, hope and love to fill the hearts of everyone involved in the community of Stichting Ariëns Katholieke Studenten Enschede.
