Ariëns KSE brings Catholic student life to the campus since 1948. At the same time our team helps students to connect with the local Catholic churches. Ariëns KSE - being a foundation (stichting) - does not require membership for participation. Our activities are primarily aimed to cater students, but they are open to anyone of good will. Together we learn. Together we pray. Together we meet and grow in faith.
Location: Münster, Germany (departure at 13h. from Enschede Josephkerk). Transport fee: €5,00.
The Christmas market in Münster is probably one of the best-known and most popular Christmas markets in the area. When the old town shines in golden splendour, the gabled houses and churches are discreetly illuminated, the shops are festively decorated and the scent of almonds, cinnamon and mulled wine wafts through the streets, the Advent season has begun in Münster. We from the Ariëns team organise driving there together from Josephkerk (Oldenzaalsestraat 115, Enschede).
Sunday 21 December 2025, 17.00h: Festival of Lessons and Carols
Location: St. Lambertusbasiliek, Hengelo centre.
The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a combination of hymns and readings in preparation of Christmas. It's a quintessentially English celebration, conducted entirely in English. The musical program features several old Christmas carols, supplemented with some more recent compositions. For over 100 years, "Once in Royal David's City" has been the standard opening song. The Festival of Lessons and Carols has become very popular throughout the Netherlands and is a festive way to prepare for Christmas. This event is organised by the basilica's choir school and Voices to Heaven. We from the Ariëns team organise going there together.
And these are some regular activities:
On Wednesdays: Ariëns Campus Evening Prayer
Evening Prayer (Vespers) in English at 18.00h at the UT campus, Vrijhof room 507, led by our Ariëns prayer team. We will pray for your prayer intentions, those of our community, and of our team. For more, see ariens.utwente.nl/prayer.
First Sundays of the month: International Mass by the Enschede Parish
