Members are encouraged to participate in four competitions per year in the months of September, December, January and April. Competition categories for the 2025-26 season are color and monochrome digital projected images (DPI). Members are allowed to submit up to four images in each of the categories.
As a nature camera club, we follow guidelines set forth by the Photographic Society of America (PSA) as to what constitutes a nature and wildlife image. Members are requested to review these PSA rules before entering RNPS competitions to make sure that their images are eligible.
Images are scored by a panel of three judges and compete for awards, honorable mentions and best of show. Images receiving honors may be selected to represent RNPS in monthly intraclub competitions held by CACCA and PSA.
In addition, there are two special competitions held annually. In March, RNPS members form teams and square off in a spirited Battle of the Sexes competition and a special End of Year competition is held at the end of May to select the best images of the year.
