In the recent Spring 2025 River Falls School District (RFSD) newsletter, the Robotics program was proudly recognized for its achievements, which spans elementary schools, the homeschool community, Meyer Middle School, and River Falls High School. This comprehensive initiative fosters STEM education and hands-on learning across all grade levels.
At the elementary level, students engage with the FIRST LEGO League, where they design and program LEGO robots to solve real-world challenges. This program is expanding to include Greenwood, Rocky Branch, RF Public Montessori, and the homeschool group in the 2025–2026 school year.
Meyer Middle School students participate in the VEX Robotics League, transitioning from LEGO to more advanced robotics systems. This shift provides a deeper understanding of engineering concepts and prepares students for higher-level competitions.
At River Falls High School, the RoboCats (Team 9149) compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition. The team has grown significantly, with 27 students participating in 2024. The team integrates various disciplines, including software, electrical, mechanical, and media, offering students a holistic engineering experience.
Supporting these programs is the River Falls Robotics Booster Club, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides essential funding, volunteer support, and organizational assistance. Their efforts ensure that all students, regardless of background, have access to quality STEM education.
